Is it worth me coming up from Melbourne for any of these Monday nighters?

I've heard from a couple of sources that the cash game standard is lower in Sydney than Melbourne, perhaps because of the more happy go lucky lifestyle in Sydney, or more tourists who are just there to have a bit of fun.

Has anyone else noticed any difference in standard?

By the way, there is some truly terrible poker being played in a lot of the pubs in Melbourne these days. They run it a bit like a trivia night (as entertainment) so it gets around the gaming laws. Is that happening in Sydney and other capital cities around Australia?

Gattaga,

Yes Poker is run throughout NSW as entertainment and you get a lot of people to it that just want a bit of fun.

Usually not hard to get through the majoriuty of them unless you get caught out by some fish who gets lucky on the river ( goes all in on 2 3 off suit and ends up hitting a flop of 2,2,2) when you call with KK.

Also seen all in with one player having AA and one player having KK and another player having QQ. Flop was QQA. Turn was a K and river was a A. (AAAA wins).

Good Luck.
