Say one opens a punting forum that 1 or 2 a month posts to how does that forum make a profit?

Who says it does, running a forum is not expensive, you can even do it for free.

Yeah more then likely it doesn't make a profit.

I think the hope is it eventually becomes big and they make money or maybe they run 50 sites.

Not sure who they are.
