Anybody Had Bad Experiences?
I'm currently in a bit of a squabble with one of the big online gaming providers regarding a bet I'd placed this morning at 17.00 on Lesvos Lady. When I checked my winning bets I noted that I'd only been paid at 7.00 and sent them an email expecting it all to be rectified quickly and smoothly (it was only a $10 win bet). I find now that they are trying to 'brazen it out' by insisting that the price I took was 7.00 but fortunately I photocopied my bets this morning and have a printout showing time, bet number and price (definitely 17.00). Even though I have provided these people with the details of this transaction they insist that they are right and I am wrong. I have lost confidence in this outfit as I'm not always so meticulous in keeping my records. It makes me wonder if I've been ripped off before without noticing it. Has anybody else had a similar experience?

Spin doctor tells me the error of my ways.
Finally got an answer that actually replied to the questions I asked. Apparently there was a late scratching in the last in Adelaide and my 17.00 became 7.00 just like that. Must've been 10/1 on or something, the late scratching. All these rules and regulations that cause you to get less than you think you should.... Reminds me of my SP in the 60s who had a 5/1 limit. Don't know what became of him. Maybe he went on to become a listed company.

Paid $12.50 on the tab after the late scratching, and the scratched horse was only a $15 chance in pre-post markets.

I've given up on on-line agencies completely and now use the TAB's only.
Advantages: Much more variety of bets any day of the week and all meetings covered. Easy cash withdrawal or deposit at any TAB outlet. No min. [OK 50c] or max bet amount and your account will never be closed due to winning and here is a biggy for some punters: Puts your credit card out of harms way [unless specially credit card deposit arrangements are made] due to easy on-line deposit, especially if a punter has been drinking. Disadvantages of betting with the TAB: Slightly lower payout [2 cents divvy mostly] but often more divvy bet payout during the week because of the 'smoke and mirrors' trick of 'better than 2 totes [only]' used by ALL agencies on all days except Saturdays. Often it is YOUR regular tote that is the 3rd. one that is paying more !! Average it out at the end of the week and it is a bit of a con job for the smallish punter [they are 99% of the customers]. The $ difference is pathetic and absolute peanuts when considering an overall small weekly profit or loss % of turnover for a 12mth. period. Some on-line agencies pay best of 3 totes on Saturdays [only] for very good reasons and they are because Saturday is the only day of the week where big[ish] differences over 3 totes is a very rare thing indeed. It's amazing how even most prices over the 3 totes are on Sat. compared to during the rest of the week. That is simply because the larger the pools, the smaller the tote differences and the biggest pools are of course on Sat. :-)) You are either going to lose a tiny bit less by betting through an agency or win a tiny bit more and if you are capable of winning regularly, the argument is academic as you will be banned or have your bets restricted by any agency [you have given them the right to do both in all agency contracts]. They don't want your business as they are there to take your money, not give you theirs ! Cheers. |

Here are 2 rules from an agency contract than will be found in ALL agency contracts you will have agreed too. I have deliberately blocked out the agency name but the rules are fairly standard across the board.
13. ******* reserves the right to close a Member's Betting Account and refund the balance of his/her account without further explanation. 29. ******** reserves the right in its sole discretion to decline, or to limit, any wager a Member may wish to place without further explanation. ********* is not required to state or provide any reason for refusing or declining to accept any bets. |

If you had been betting with Sportsbet you would have been paid $14 but i will say that SP and Top Fluc were both $7

Each to their own I suppose Crash, but what you've stated is not absolutely correct. I backed two winners for small amounts yesterday with a well known 'best tote' corporate bookie & got $25 about a horse whose best fluc was $17 - a lone leader method of mine that throws up some good priced winners - Jaunty Lad in Perth - & Dawson's Road in the jumper's flat @ Sandown which paid $8.30 when the best fluc was $7.00. There are heaps of similar pay-outs week in, week out & I read somewhere that overall the punter, even those betting for small amounts, are better off by about 5% long-term using the 'best tote' option. That can add up to a considerable amount over a year. depending on the number of bets of course. |
