Default Why Do You Bet

Hi all

Sometimes i have wondered why people bet be it horses/dishlickers/trots/sports etc.

Is it the:
Excitement
the challenge of picking the winner
Is it emotional ( good feeling when a winner is picked)
To try and beat the experts
Is it to make money

Most people will say to make money but there actions certainly make you wonder sometimes.

Cheers

ubetido,

To make money (well at least a small profit) isn't hard, but it is nice to do. Does require good discipline so while it may be my overall aim I think my real motivation comes from the challenge and the excitement. I pretty much do it to get bragging rights over mates.

Good Luck.

Lets face it, those who don't bet waste form guides.

That's right have you seen how many orphaned form guides there are stashed in Railway Platform bin every Friday morning..... it's a far bigger shame than the child overboard story... but no one knows about it !

1. For the shear pleasure the whole racing scene brings.
2. The challenge of winning and the thrill that provides when getting it right.
3. The money [there are a lot of easier ways to make it, so it's on the bottom here].

I think many people started their betting with a winner or a few wins, and thought they could do it forever (or hoped) call it beginners luck or the work of old nick I don't know, but I started off with some amazing wins as a young bloke, and was definitly hooked ever since. Not many spectacular wins these days, but still enjoy the thrill when I'm right.

As crash says, there are easier ways to make money with less ups and downs, but the adrenaline rush gets me everytime

Also there's no greater entertainment spectacle for me watching the whole thing. Anticipating what's going to happen and see it executed to perfection is fantastic.

When going to the track i find the whole experience great but i find it hard to punt seriously at the track perhaps because i get caught up with the atmoshpere etc.

Off track i tend to be more serious and more focused on the bank balance and money management side of it.

Cheers
