Question Taking nearly all the runners in a race

Hi All.

Has anyone (stuppid question) looked at taking say all runners in a field leaving out say the fav and a couple of roughies.

eg

100/ odds of runner,
not suitable for big races i guess where there are a lot of 4s and 5s etc but with say 9 runners, maybe the trots too, youll get a shorty, and say a couple at 30s, leave them out and back the rest according to their odds and aim for about 80 units out.

just got one at pakenham r6 where i backed 2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8.

The outlay was 65, in 88.

Best fluctuation or fixed odds would have to be the go for this.

now canterbury r5

cheers dingo

It is probably easier to just lay the favourite. That is a pretty small return (1.35 I think) and you are hoping the fav gets rolled.

G'Day Dingo,

I have one plan that continues to work, kinda similar (with a twist) it's a cover to win system backing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fav's as per TAB-FORM after scratchings. betting race to race with built in safety nets of course.

The main difference is that I bet equal amounts on each (split the total stake by 3) a 2/1 winner breaks even, anything higher puts in front, 8/1 clears the target, anything better is a bonus which sits in a special bank to offset when the target gets too big.

A variation from Bhagwan that I like ,is to take the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd horses quoted at $4.10c or higher, this cuts out shorties but can include the longer priced Forcast fav . eg Saturday Perth =Matador $6.30c (quoted at $4.80c)

I'm happy backing 3 per race but it could be re-worked to cover more horses and therefore higher S/R.

Good luck!

Hi lads,

wouldnt know how to lay a horse even if i was paid, cant understand betfair !

The way i pickm with my luck i would probabally make a killing because all of my selections normally loose (especially when i watch them running ive found).

Your right party, thats the way i used to bet, i should go back to the old basics.

I was only looking at it yesterday when i went back through a particular system i purchased from another "punting site" which never really firred, i was on tab west scratching around and noted a lot of strange pricing from the markets, i wouldnt do it all the time though.

I might sit an have a look at that today, makes a lot of sence.

you would be amazed dingo at how betting against a nag can, almost like a miracle, cause said nag to run the race of its horrible life!

on a more serious note if you are interested in learning to use bf, i was sent a "betfair for dummies" when i opened my account with them, found it useful & esp enjoyed the 'stories' section.

if so i would suggest getting on the blower to bf as they probably are giving copies away gratis.

Thanks Stugots,

I have accounts with most oz bookies, bf was always a worry for me due to licencing issues, i should as you state get in touch, im sure i have an account with them just never placed a bet or gave them funds, ill get in touch today.
I should learn the lay thing, it seems the go at the moment, and as i said, my selections, all i have to do is lay them instead of backing to win,....ill be a pro in a week ! (but,...then they will win as soon as i lay them !)

Cheers D

Why not experiment with the FREE ratings on this site .

Add 1 to the remaining chances after scratchings and accept that as your MINIMUM acceptable price.
Bet ALL those at that price or better.

Can be done with any set of ratings.

Cheers.

Thanks Darky.

is that daves stuff?

i used win6 sometimes but the hard thing for me is that i sometimes havent got time to do it, ie dowload, print etc.

Just looking for a simple (here we go) back as many as you can and still make a little profit sort of thing. Ive done it a few times, backing say 4 or 5 at a time, just depends.

Imagine having an hour to spare each day IN TOTAL, leaves me not much time to read form, download, print and then have a punt.

Im nearly resolved to the fact that i should give it up for a couple of years until im settled completely then do it PROPERLY, if you know what i meen.

Ill send you something today.

Cheers D
