Tatts Day Tips
Race 1: interesting race to start the day could give a chance to a few in this I expect Craiglea Emma to be a shortish fav around the $3 mark and probably deservably so but it isn't like it is unbeatable either, I feel Instructed and Stylish Qualo would both be pretty decent chances depending on track conditions no idea whether it is raining there or not if wet I'd consider Tudor Quest a rough chance aswell. I expect that Stylish Qualo will be better odds of the 1st 3 I mentioned and will have a bit e/w on him if the odds are there to do so if not and the track is wet then I might just settle with e/w Tudor Quest over all of them value wise, got the right Jockey on for me lately
Race 2: Another in a long line of horrifically tough races tomorrow the 3 I like a bit are Paleface Pete especially if track is slow or worse having a look through his form he wasn't far behind King of the Nile a couple of starts back and with #kgs off would be in with 50kgs, Daring Fortune Powell has been getting some good results of late and this look a chance in an even event the drop in weight looks like a major help although the barrier could have it settling in a tricky position. Simply put wet track favours Paleface Pete and dry tack I feel favours Daring Fortune that is the way I am thinking of going anyway Race 3: Was hoping to find a race to leave alone and gave this a chance of being that race but if Stolit can get in and it hasn't had anyluck at all lately so it could be a real big if, he just might be a chance to get a well deserved win especially with Pengelly engaged, Seconde is another I don't mind here been racing pretty solidly 4 runs back from a spell can hit the line from the back but also has the ability to sit in a good possy aswell with my man Bowditch on board I won't be leaving him out of my bets here. Going e/w on both here if odds are there for Stolit and Seconde whichever one isn't e/w odds I'll probably just leave alone hard to say at this point Race 4: Tempted to leave this race alone but Tripitz was a good run last start and should start fav here if not I would seriously question what is going on, I like Pepperwood but my patience is pretty well gone with it would wants $10 to get interested in it tomorrow and I can't see that happening, Dalzar might be the value runner I would keep this safe whatever you do. Tripitz the horse wot beat if odds are available doubt Pepperwood is odds it should be and Dalzar might be the horse at odds that could blow them all out and would say I may have a little e/w on it over all the others mentioned Race 5: Amazingly hard race this one it would be easier to tip the NRL and that is impossible, Chances to almost anything that lines up here IMO this race just might come down to who gets the right run with the relevant speed in the race, Recapitalise is an interesting addition to this race weighted to his best but he is a more than capable sprinter on his day and can certainly pull out a run fresh I amnot the biggest fan of Treweeks but he is good enough to steer this horse around I think, Street Smart is capable of blowing them all away as are both October Grey and Flying Alpha. I am really thinking of leaving this race alone unless Recapitalise is over the $15 mark and looks well or I can actually settle on one of the others by tomorrow if forced to pick Flying Alpha looks hardest to beat but she won't be any spoil at the odds I wouldn't feel and isn't a terribly consistent commodity. [\b] Race 6: Well all I will say here is good luck fantastic race and a great lineup of fillys and mares, I really like Rosa's Spur and see absolutely no reason to get off her now she smashed a good field last start and loses nothing IMO getting Robert riding her opposed to Craig Williams alot won't agree there but IMO Robert is as good as anyone going around, After this it is opinion based Nova Star is flying and cannot be left out was a good run in the straddy one of the few to really hit the line, More than Lucky is a horse I have always had an opinion of and was beaten only a length 1st up behind Metallity last prep looks to be a value chance here. [b]I am backing Rosa's Spur regardless she shouldn't be double figure odds again she was sensational her last 2 starts and was carrying plenty of condition suggesting she had plenty of improvement, More than Lucky is the other one I am thinking of backing e/w. Race 7: Sculptor was a great win last start and has paid the price he might still be able to win with that weight but it is going to be tough Game On looks as though it could prove hard to run past and Mirkola Lass has drawn well and maynot get that far off the pace it does struggle to win races though. I figure $10 or better is still good odds on Sculptor and will back him around there Mirkola Lass is the other I would treat as an e/w proposition Race 8: Tough race to finish the day however one of my favs in Roman Squire is going around and he would have been my bet if not for the ridiculos odds i saw in the paper today of $2.90 no way I back anything in this race near those odds, Legendary Man is one I so want to sack once and for all but he keeps doing something to suck me back in again, Hard to Catch was a sensatrional run in the straddy not sure if the mile suits him and Our Lord Monty gets the right jockey change in having McKeon removed. Roman Squire if odds are there if not Legendary Man and if no odds there I might have a go at Hard to Catch Good luck guys in a ridiculosly tough day plenty of value there is you can find a couple |

Race 1: I like the Alan Bailey trained Lombardy. This horse likes the track and third up looks good. Has had a combined 9 first and second up starts for one third. Of his other career starts he's 10: 7-1-1. The 1200 not favourable but i think he can overcome this. Colless on his back is a huge plus has been in good form lately. Instructed looks set to challenge third up as well for John Morrisey.
Race 2: Hard to go past the inform Hy Dream and Corey Brown on his first ride of the day. Was impressive over Frisco's Vision some 12 days ago and the step up to the 1600 doesnt look like it will bother him. 1 horse id like to see perform well is Monaseeci. Just a battling horse but Joe Bowditch has been instrumental of late and looks like this could be another rough chance he'll get home tomorrow. Place chance to Phoenix Express. I'll stick with Hy Dream Race 3: Tough race this one with the top fancies all coming up against each other again. Easy Rocker might find the larger field against him here. Although from the 3 barrier and with a possible Nolen gem of a ride you cant leave him out. Stolit looks nicely placed from the 8 barrier and with Pengelly on board my money will be on him. Again can't leave out the Heinrich mount Main Vein and i give a chance, albeit a rough one, to Mono Mac. Stick with Stolit although monitor track bias from first two races. Race 4: Cant argue with the down south form of Isurava. Has been impressive and i think it will be a big day for Colless. I dont know whether the punters will be on with any confidence but ill jump on the wagon if they have a go at it on course. Couldn't say much else about Tripitz last run except that thank god it didnt get an extra bound cause i unloaded on Apercu. I give a good chance to Steven King's mount Lady Showheart in this. Typical two year old race a lot in it and maybe one to stay away from. Race 5: This race is like tossing a 20 sided dice. You could get a different result every time. All these horses have claims on their best form. I've always been a fan of October Grey but he just seems like a non winner. I'd give a good chance to the second emergency Aim So High if it gets a draw and it would be my e/w pick for the race. Nessuno is another that hasn't been overly impressive but has been there abouts. Foxmore first up could poke its head thru too. If it gets a run Aim So High if not Nessuno. Race 6:I'll have no hesitation getting on Gold Edition. From the 4 barrier she'll take her normal position and Powell showed he could ride her in the Guineas. 1600 and the two day back may just have been too much for her. She'll hit back here. The Gai Waterhouse pair will be the dangers for sure and i think that trifecta looks good in what is a day where u get a trifecta u get blessed. Race 7: Ice Chariot looks the one to beat. Has been improving out of site lately and i will be getting on him. doesnt lose anything with Katsidis on his back. Mirkola Lass definitely has to be watched and althoguh he mixes his form he's drawn well and not too badly served at the weights. Skyleda although completely up in class might give a good sight and diamondsondinside will be coming home late. Race 8: Obviously the only question with Roman Squire is the rise in class but the way he handled his opposition last start it doesn't look like he'll have too much trouble. Atapi looked great last start and although the 17 barrier isnt in his favour he's running with great heart. I wont leave Bianca out eith Id love to see a jock like purton or Nolen on this but we'll see if they choose this race who they decide to put on. Best Bet(s) of the Day: Early on guys. Lombardy in the first and Gold Edition to hit back Best Each Way picks: Aim So High and if they offer odds about Fashions Afield ill back her for the place Lays of the Day: The Jackal and Game On Best Quinella Bet: Roman Squire and Atapi Best Trifecta: Gold Edition, Aqua D'amore and Fashions Afield |

Race 1,
Craiglee Emma is just super consistant,,just check her record out,,she only has 53kg's and gets first use of the inside which with the rail coming in will be the place to be....Coome is a good rider and i like his ability to find the gaps and the fearless way he rides.. Emma a spesssh.. like Raw i think she'll be supported but 4's is ok,,Shovoot is a fav of mine and is flying..if they forget about him have something e/w,,, i love this Exacta,,, with Stylish Qualo , Lombardy and Instructed to fill the placings.. Race 2, On ratings Nexgen comes up on top,,,,you'd think he should lead this fairly comfortable,,,,Phoenix Express was well ridden by Dunn last time he was on but the horse doesnt seem to have that spark,,,King Of Spurs is interesting and at mass odds worth a spec.. I like Nexgen and although a bookies fav i think against this lot he should win this.... RAce 3, I've watched the replay of Easy Rocking's win last start and wow,,he did look strong...only goes up alittle but has the good barrier,,,i tried to find something to beat him but couldnt.. Easy Rocking a speshhh ,,,,Main Vein and Stirring the main dangers...Stirring if the inside is hot worth a very close look (watch the 1st 2 races) Race 4, Isurava was fantastic last start,,i was in awe ,,looks way to good for these when you factor in Improvement and the Jockey....Colless a master at the perfectly timed run...looks way to good for Trippitz whos 2nd rater but i doubt we'll see a price.....shame but we might see something special.. Race 5, Single Rose you'd think from the inside would be way to nippy,,trouble is shes a fragile thing and really only races best on the fresh side.. October Grey i've been waiting for but what is Gary Palmer doing aboard ?? has he been back long ?? is this his first ride back ?? have i missed something ? Tellem will give a great e/w sight in this...hes tough as old shoes.. Tornado Alley even with the weight and awkward barrier the top rater...i love his runs so far and he does look a more complete racehorse..he loves this track and distance...wow it looks i'll get over 10's and i'll take that.. Sectagonal on consistancy , Flying Alpha and Tellem for the multis....the jackal with a strong rider capable of big improvement.. Race 6, I'm with Ijuanda...any other horse and theres no way a Goldie would be on top,,but i dont penalise her for the drop back and the quik back up,shes clearly on top...the inside should be good and the better track is in her favour,, Doubting rates 2nd best,,,should get the good run and maybe set for this.. Rosa's, Aqua, Fashions, Nova, Imana, Hanna the place getters.. Goldie ,,,but will try and get 4's Race 7, I think Game on couldnt be ridden any better last start..thing is will probably get it even easier this time..the drop back suits...,i can see abit of speed in this race though that might have him going alittle to early,, Ice Chariot 58 kgs ?? i'm not sure he'll be able to wind up enough to catch Game On .. FortnWon finally with the jackass jockey off and no weight on the good surface capable of anything...should be huge odds,,,,if i can get on Game On maybe but not super keen.. Race 8, I have Royal Ida on top,,been waiting for this horse to tackle the mile,, as hes got older this horse still comes home hard but not with the sharp sprint he used to have,,,i think the mile is ideal on this track,,hes fit and although his last start was awfull hes better than that,,,,Warrior Trader at huge odds suited here ..capable of an upset.. Roman Squire ?? i love the way he strides...was worried about him in the wet as i thought he'd be alittle timid ,,but nope he strode away like he was froliking among the daisies...,,this is his test ,,can he take the next step.. could be a topliner ... Idas been there done that,,,distance ?? if i get above 10's i'm on... Best bets ,,Craiglee Emma, Easy rocking, Isurava, Goldie Best e/w's .. Tellem, Warrior trader Good Luck all |

R1 I like Craiglea Emma as well, like you said mav, super consistant. Instructed absoultely flying late.
R2 Its a tough race but ive come up with Nexgen as well, I think it will be able to turn the table on HyDream last start and win this. R3 Im on Main vein, seems to get into this race best on weights with the two horses that finished in front of it both going up in weight, and it drops 2kg. R4 I really dont like these sort of races, there doesnt appear to be much speed at all on paper, maybe Lady Showheart leading. Im just going to go with some value, with alot of the better horses drawn a bit wide and might get awkward runs. Princess of Monaco will sit right behind the leader so ill have an E/W bet unless Lady Show Heart gets to some juicy odds and ill have a bit on her as well. R5 Now thisis a race that looks to have alot of pace, can Tornado Alley replicate the run in the Dr John Power? If it can it will most likely brain them, but i think there is going to be a little to much pace from some of the other runners to let it go like that. Ill have Flying Alpha, nice weight, good barrier, it should nestle in somewhere back in the field and just get a great run, and smash them in the straight. Ill chuck in Foxmore at odds to, the last two runs in front of Black Ink are respectable, just a query over the 1200m. R6 I cant see anything running past Gold Edition in the straight, The two horses that you would think are going to take it to her have drawn way out wide. I agree mav, i think your gunna get 4's and i think you will be collecting. Rosa's spur will be storming home, so a long as it gets a clear run it will be right there but i think Gold Edition will dictate this race like it did in the straddie, and i cant see a Snipers Bullet here to run it down. Imana to run a good race to. R7 I really liked Adavale Hornets last run, but now im looking at Game On and i think from the 1 gate he will just cruise to the front out of the barriers stick to the rail and go on with it in the straight. Has been super consistent and is going to give this a great show. R8 Ok i think there is going to be an upset here. There looks to be no pace at all in this, If that is the case Ten to countdown could steal it. Is one of the only on pacers in the race so it will get an easy cross for the lead, and i think Our Lord Monty will posi right in behind. Ill take that as my quinella and hopefully snag a bit of value to end the day. Good luck guys Last edited by Horse Whisperer : 23rd June 2007 at 06:58 AM. |

Sorry guys I shouldn't bag him but he isn't the strongest Jockey I have ever seen and doesn't steer his horses well but he does get alot of winners in NZ so he is doing something right, he is an alright jockey however if I had a horse good enough to be racing in this class he wouldn't be my choice just my opinion there are alot worse jockeys going around then him by the same token aswell.
