Cool Fair go Vic TAB !!!

How do you like this ?

Yesterday I took a $5 flexi roving banker trifecta on the Cup, as follows;

8 Maldivian & 18 Master O'Reilly as roving bankers with 11 Scenic Shot, 14 Duoro Valley, and 17 Princess Coup which would pay 27.78% of the dividend (
$354.80 on VicTAB ) if successful.

So with the late withdrawal ( NOT SCRATCHING ) of Maldivian at the barrier, I still have 8 roving with 11, 14, & 17 and when 8 wins, 14 places 2nd and 17 places 3rd I've got the chocs right?

Wrong according to Vic TAB. I get a refund of my $5 !!!

They must think that if Maldivian is out I don't want Master O'Reilly or that Master O'Reilly can't run a place in the absence of Maldivian.

Anyway, after 3 calls and about an hour on the phone, mostly waitng and pressing buttons & going round in circles I finally speak to a Supervisor who was helpful, (thanks Robin), who says I will have to put in a claim etc. etc.

Any comments? I doubt I am Robinson Crusoe here.

Gerry I could be wrong here as I have never actually done a Roving tri before but don't you have to have 2 horses nominated that must finish somewhere in the placings? if so then the refund is probably the right option I know it stinks as it is hard enough to get one of these exotic bets up but I think the TAB has done the right thing here good luck with the claim though mate you never know.

Cool Thanks for your input

yes, you are right, both roving horses have to run a place and there are no subs, but even if they refunded half, I think i still should get something. Incidentally, master O'Reilly was the Sub.

Cool The funny part is

that it costs the same to take 2 rovers with 3 others as it does to take 1 rover with 3 others i.e. 18 units.

Just working this out i must be confused did you want 8 Maldivian & 18 Master O'Reilly to both fill a place then any of your other 3 to fill 1st 2nd or 3rd

Looking at the bet this is what would have to happen for you to win and because one of your rovers was scratched it makes it impossible for both of them to fill a place.

This type of bet is a bit like a quinella saver if you like two horses to run first and second but have a couple of other dangers

Cool Claim submitted to TAB

so I just guess we will have to wait and see how we go.

It took 10 days for the claim form to get here (Melbourne) but I suppose that's not bad in view of the fact that it had to come all the way from Sydney. Well done Cobb & Co! You only get 15 days to submit a claim so they successfully reduced that to 5 days.

I don't see why they could not send a form online in a PDF, as they are quite happy to get the signed form back in the form of a fax!
