Okay guys. Something pretty simple this year. We are ONLY looking at group 1 races and we are simply selecting a small stable of horses to follow in those races. So, in other words, we're not picking horses to win a Wyong maiden or something like that. We're only interested in picking horses to back in group 1 races. There are more than 20 of them during the spring, so we'll still have enough action to keep us interested.

Here are the rules:

Everybody to pick a stable of just 6 horses.

You must include 2 "stable stars" in your list of 6 horses.
These 2 horses remain in your stable for the whole duration of the spring. No matter what happens with their form and fitness, you can't replace them. So think carefully about these 2 horses.

You can replace any or all of the other 4 stable horses at any time.
There is no limit to how often you replace the other runners. You don't have to wait until they've had a run for you or anything like that. As long as you follow the next 2 rules, you're okay to replace them at any time.

You must select horses at least 2 days before they're due to run for you.
If you want to pick a horse to run for you in a group 1 race on the Saturday, you must include it in your stable by the Thursday.

Once you drop a horse from your stable, you can't pick it again.
This is to stop people continually chopping and changing from week to week. So think carefully before you drop a horse from your stable, because once you do, you won't be able to pick it again later on.

Everyone will start with a $1000 bank and all selections will be backed whenever they run in a group 1 race.
I am going to automatically put them all down as $10 each way. So if you want to have any or all of them $20 win instead, then you'll have to tell me that when I list the selections on the forum each week.




The first group 1 of the season is the Manikato Stks which is run next Saturday. If you want to have a runner in that race, you have to post your 6 horse stable by next Thursday, September 11. Otherwise, the deadline to post your stables is the the following Thursday, September 18.

Sept 20 - Sir Rupert Clarke Stks
Sept 27 - George Main Stks
Oct 4 - Spring Champion Stks
Oct 4 - The Metropolitan
Oct 4 - Epsom Hcp
Oct 4 - Flight Stks
Oct 4 - Turnbull Stks




Please remember to mark off which two horses are going to be your stable stars for the spring. Simply put an * next to their name.

Hello. Please don't take this the wrong way. Maybe considering the work you put in, people don't want to risk offending you, so maybe they haven't responded. I don't normally enter the competitions. But I've had a look at this and I think it's just a bit tricky and possibly low action. I don't know really know what a lot of the good young horses are going to be so I can't initially select them. It's very easy for horses to get injured, so I might only end up with 4 horses running for me. I usually check out Saturday's fields in Friday's paper, not on the web, and then its too late to make any changes for Saturday. So some suggestions are more action = more stable horses = even being able to increase the size of your stable each week.
Also have you thought about rewarding people for the amount of prize money their stable wins?

Yeah, we've had a few of those comps before. Just thought I'd go with a punting comp this time. And I wanted to make it a pretty easy competition this time, so that's why it's only group 1 races and only a stable of 6 horses each.
