Talking I like that horse!

Thread starter

I think most of us have at least one favourite horse that is currently racing. There can be any number of reasons. Here are just a few:

1. You keep backing the horse and keep making money on it. Some punters back a horse every race it runs and if they select the right horse they make a killing. Just like any punters who backed Saturday's Doncaster Handicap winner, Vision and Power for a win in every one of its races would be returning a profit of more than 100% on turnover.

2. The horse has guts and never gives in. It might get trapped wide or might get bumped in a race but unlike many horses which give up and wait till their next race, this horse fights on.

3. Or you might love the way the horse nearly always wins those close finishes, like the way Octagonal kept on winning.

4. Or you might like the way a horse wins when it's up against the odds and not expected to win.

Terms of Use for this thread: Let's keep all posts positive.

1. To keep this thread really useful for everyone let's restrict it to horses that are still racing at the time of your post.

2. No bagging of horses or criticising anyone because you don't like one of their favourite horses.

There have been a few good money spinners for me over the past couple of months. Three of these have been
  • Cocinero
  • Happy Glen
  • Fifth Avenue Lady
All three seem to hold their form once they strike it and usually at better odds with each win - go figure!

without doubt the mighty MALDIVIAN for me. have loved this horse from the early starts, its win in the yalumba beating the hotpot miss finland was awesome, then came back after everyone wrote it off to win the cox. won 6 cartons of scotch cans that day from mates. love the way it gets to the front and dictates a race...
Apache cat doesnt owe me a cent either, i seem to back it at the right times, just love the look of the cat, always liked german chocolate, has cost me a fortune because i always believed he had the class to win a big race, now that i own a part of him i like him even more!!

good thread!!

Post deleted. This is a positive thread about members' favourite horses that are currently racing, not horses that "frustrate" members. Once we go on that tangent then we'll end up with people posting about horses they can't stand. That's NOT this thread.

Im all over Black Piranha at the moment, also I love the way Swiss Ace fights so hard at the ends of his races.

In the past I followed a horse called Motivate, the first time I backed it it came second in an Ipswich cup behind Portland Singa and I followed it for the next couple of yars, never won anything but ran a few nice places untill it finally won paying about $30. I think after following it for so long that was possibly the happiest day of my life lol.

Edited - for some reason Ace appeared as aaa. This has been manually corrected. Moderator.
