Wink English Form Guides

Anyone know how to read the English Racing Form Guide?

For example, Goodwood 23.20 p.m. has the fave High Standing's form as: 11/122-1. Does this mean that it won its last start and ran second at its previous two starts? If so, why is there a dash between the 2 and the 1? And what does the "/" signify? - a spell? or does the dash mean a spell.

The second fave's form is: 11403-9. There's that pesky dash again...

Well, as far as I can tell, they're both something to do with spells. They both mean that a horse hasn't raced for a period of time. But I'm not sure what the difference is between a - and a /.

The numbers definitely relate to where they finished.

Hi RJ, long time no post!
I've just started using a free resource to help me with my UK punting. Mixed results so far. Free daily ratings, UK races - infineform.

It appears that a "-" is a spell and a "/" is an extended spell of more than three months.

a horse with a / hadn't started since Jan 07
a horse with a - for roughly 40 days

So I think a / is more than a year off???

I thought that's what it might have been too, but when I looked longer at the form guides, it didn't seem to work out that way.
