![]() isnt the issue of weight a bit of a red herring because every horse will be a different size and weight to start with and therefore its ability to handle extra weight is indeterminate??
And what proportion of a horses weight is the extra few kilos?? An extra 2kg to its weight might be no different to me putting on a 100gram hat! just a thought :smile: see ya Every Topic |

It may be an indirect indicator. I agree that a few kg may be nothing to a big animal that shoots around the track with something on it's back anyway. But in handicaps they'll be allocating that extra weight to "even" things out. So maybe we should be watching the heavier horses? Also, what about the longer term. Give me a screaming baby and I'll walk that thing to blissful slumber. But is it me or do they get heavier and heavier? While a horse is panting about the track obsessively trying to be ahead of that other horse does it also tire more quickly over longer distances?
