What's with Craiglea
Townsville Race 3 today had 9 entrants, 7 of which were called Craiglea .......
What's up with that? I don't know much about horse racing so was just wondering what's happening with that name? I also saw a few more during other races. 1 CRAIGLEA TEQUILA 2 CRAIGLEA MODEL 3 CRYSTAL MATES 4 CRAIGLEA TATTOO 5 BLUFALO 6 CRAIGLEA JAGUAR 7 CRAIGLEA KEY 8 CRAIGLEA MANDY 9 CRAIGLEA TURBO Results were: 1 CRAIGLEA TEQUILA 3.60 1.40 2 CRAIGLEA MODEL 1.10 8 CRAIGLEA MANDY 2.90 So, does anyone know what's up with that?

"what's up with that" - not sure what you mean
In any case, I'll take a stab - they have all been bred at Craiglea Stud Kenilworth Qld

Hi The Ocho -- Sands is Correct
Over the last few years the owners of that stud have made a concerted effort to take advantage of the QLD Breeding scheme bonus prisemoney for QLD bred 2 & 3yo . By having their own private trainer (who obviously "bulk bills") costs are kept to minimum. Iam not sure ofthe exact amount - but they aim to win about $800,000 / year which gives them > 10% return ie: better than bank interest, plus their name up in lights as well !!! Cheers |

No worries, thanks guys. I initially thought the sire (or whatever they're called) may have been called Craiglea but the stud thing makes more sense.
