Wink Sky Rankings

Anyone looks at Sky rankings?

Today if the Best Overall had 20 points or more, and the race had 8 to 12 runners the results were (Unitab divvies):

11 selections
4 winners for a return of $15.30.
10 placegetters for a return of $14.40.

If I get time tomorrow I'll list the selections here.

Cool

Well MG, I had a serious look today at laying Sky's top tipsters selections (Baghwan star rating inspired) and would have made a tidy profitRP

Hi M.G.

Without giving to much away here are a couple of things,
That will help.

Extend the points to 22=>.
Always check the points on the sheet as they are often wrong.

Only consider races where the favorite reaches $2.0=>.

Only consider races where all horses have had at least 2=> starts,
Otherwise you will get horses rated highly only because the rest,
Of the field have insufficient form to rate on.

Unfortunately you will need a couple more filters but it can be profitable,
With the right filters.

Field Size =<8 is best.
9-12 small profit.
13=> loss.

The field size data is from my own so may differ when used in different circumstances.

Good luck with it.

To save a lot of time for you M.G. profitability will be determined,
BY 3 X CRITERIA.

Where you bet.(which state)
The type of meeting you bet on.(country metro provincial)
The type of race you will bet in.(good average poor)

Today ( Geelong)(V/P) (Victoria Provincial)
(R/hampton (QC)(Qld Country)
(Pinjarra)(W.A.C.)(West Aust Country)

Personally i don't bet in W.A as their country and provincial meetings,
Often don't have fixed odds betting.

Once you have established that, you can add filters like.

Distance(s).
Field Size(s).
Price.
Form.etc.

This in my own database is the only way i have been able to make profits,
Using your selection method.

But you may be able to discover something else other than,
My last 2 posts.

Good luck with it whatever method you use.

Cheers.
Garyf.

Thanks, gents for your comments. Anyone got any Place records?

Betting to Win is not my preference, laying is. I'll give the method another go today.

I'll identify the selections that Won/Placed at last start, and those that were unplaced to see if there's any merit.

*** = won at last start
** = ran second at last start
* = ran third at last start
X = unplaced at last start.

Geelong
3/3 = X
4/4 = **
8/3 = ***

Rocky
3/1= **
4/1 = X
5/2 = ***
6/3 = *

Pinjarra
2/8 = **
4/1 = **

There are 2 selections that won at last start - Geelong 8/3 and Rocky 5/2. I'm backing them to Place.

Question

No idea M.G. on how to lay these for a profit,
Have never layed a horse in my life for a living.

Only know how to make these ratings profitable.

Maybe someone out there who is laying them successfully can help.

Cheers.
Garyf.

You may wish to recheck you selections M.G re the points.
G/LONG R=8.
P/JARRA R=2.

But you may have other criteria for the selections.

Cheers.

Thanks, Garyf.

The selection for Geelong R8 should be no.2 not no.3 (ran third last start). However there is no selection for Pinjarra R2 as the top selection (no.2) has only 12 points? I get the info for the method from NSW TAB.

Two races have already been run. Geelong 3/3 (unplaced last start) won paying $1.90 and $1.10, and Geelong 4/4 second loast start) ran second paying $1.50.

Just an observation:

If the Sky 100-pointer is not in the top 2 selections of the Best Overall rankings - there have already been three selections, Rocky 1/1, 2/8 and 3/6 ($2.57 SP), then I'm considering laying them.

The three above selections have been beaten, I estimate for a profit of approximately $26 from a liability of $33.

If anyone's interested there are three more of these selections.

Geelong
7/9 - I'm not interested because it's returning from a spell.

Pinjarra
2/9
8/2
