Every time I watch a NZ gallops race about to start, I flinch. Has anyone ever considered how dangerous it is with these 'shopping trolley' barriers they use, where the attendant ducks under the front gate, and still crouching (out of sight of the starter on a stand BEHIND the barriers Trentham) exits in front of the barriers about to open.

You should watch racing from South America, or even the USA. They have people, objects, whatever, on the track, and usually at least one Clerk of the Course on the track in the straight.
