Default Windows 10 Installer

I have finally decided to give windows 10 a run, i have not used 8 or 8.1 and am on 7, since they are still offering it for free with your current license i will get it.

I found on there site that i could download an ISO rather than just upgrade, that suits me fine as i prefer to have the whole operating system, am also getting a multi version 32/64 bit as i had a volume license with windows 7 so will stick the 32 bit version on a low end netbook.

When i moved i left my OS disks at the other house and have been unable to find them so was floundering with a decaying OS for the last 6 months until i discovered Microsoft now allow you to download your software after matching it to your license so i now have an ISO of windows 7 Pro in case this windows 10 gives me the ********s

I do understand there are some privacy issues with windows 10 but i will google that to resolve them.

you can set the reporting to basic or visit this site;

If you follow instructions it works, have to do it as admin.

So far running smooth, i did a custom install, lets you turn off a lot of the stuff from sending data.

Yes, it is a learning curve finding where they have put things as they have renamed a few items, i had the big bluetooth issue but after buying a $15 usb bluetooth dongle it works fine now, i ran a couple scripts to take care of the privacy concerns but honestly if they want to know what u are doing they could easily hide more of that in the software.

I think the fact it is free to upgrade it is well worth doing since i was on windows 7 but i wouldn't do the standard upgrade rather a fresh install as it suits me better.

That is true, Shaun but the way the internet works, you cannot hide the eventual/final address the outgoing data is going to.
Same with incoming, if you care enough it's easy to do a deep packet inspection and find out and block it.

Hence you cannot access Lux from places it blocks through VPN, or hiding your IP. The Amazon or other Virtual server works a treat but.

Software ppl exists outside MS and dare I say most of them are a damn lot batter than those at MS.

Bottom line, you could still block it and you should.
Your personal browsing history is open to any advertiser and that's bad enough, having all your personal details available to someone not even polite enough to ask for it in the first place is not on as far as I'm concerned.

All we can do is try, it must have been worth more to Microsoft to gather that information, that's why they offered the free upgrade.
