let us imagine you woke up this morning in a dream world and your TAB asked you for your opinion on their overall performance.
What complaints would you lay at their feet, or what suggestions would you make to them in any areas of betting, either racing or sports betting. I look forward to your comments, Every Topic |

Stop being too greedy!
Reduce the takeout % to a more reasonable level (ideally 5-10% with win/place pools at the lower end of this range). Give realistic rebates to punters that bet via Internet as it costs the TAB ************ all to process these bets in comparison to Telephone or branch betting. This could reduce the commission (see previous point) for serious punters whilst retaining higher commissions for the phone/branch betters. Display and pay divs to nearest CENT - only round the final payout if paying at an agency to the nearest 5c (account bets should be paid to the cent). Start offering more competitive sports odds. Start up an exchange! I expect all these will happen about the same time that pigs evolve into flying creatures!

I'd like it if Unitab followed the lead of more progressive states and introduced flexi bet.

BC,
I cant image them giving up too much in the way of the dividend, but it would help strengthen the weaker meetings if they took a progressive attitude to the payouts. for example... if the pool for that race product is less than $10,000 then the dividend should be available in cents up to the $2 mark. if the pool is greater than $10,000 and less than $20,000 the dividend should be in 2 cent units and above $20,000 the divvie should be in 5 cent units. I suspect it would encourage more betting at the smaller meetings, increasing turnover which pays for the incentive. It would be nice to see at least one of the TAB's trial such a system for a month or two. see ya Every Topic |

I agree with all the positive ideas here. With respect to another thread here about how there's no point win betting with the TABs now (because of IAS), does anyone think the TABs will respond with some competitive change?
Probably not, becasue if they were to do anything that increased dividends, the result would be to drive up the IAS price, and not result in any benefit to them. |

ONCE THE BOOKIES CUT THEIR OWN THROAT AND ARE NO LONGER WITH US I PREDICT THE TAB TAKEOUT WILL INCREASE TO 20% AND THE FOLLOWING FEW YEARS AFTER THAT TO 25%.
NO ONE IN THE INDUSTRY SEEMS TO CARE LEAST OF ALL THE BOOKIES AND I AM ASHAMED TO SAY THE AV SATURDAY PUB/TAB PUNTER. WITH NO OPPOSITION THEY CAN DO WHAT THEY ************ WELL LIKE.AND THEY CERTAINLY WILL. THE EXCUSE WILL BE WE OWE TO THE SHAREHOLDERS. |

How about a website that works properly !!
Is it only me or does it not update automatically any more ? Suggested additions to the Vic TAB website: - Faster updating though may not be possible. - Daily Gear Changes on a button. - Flexi-bet on Quaddies, Tri's & Daily Doubles. - Approx Dividends - Text only results site so you can look-up results via your mobile phone with GPRS (Its not hard to do and is cheap as long as its only text) - Betting history to be available for more than just the current day - The ability to cancel bets online. - Future day betting. I did have 'All-Up' bets in the list but I see they have finally added that already. Well done, only took 3 years..... I could go on forever, but the above are relatively easy to implement and would make the Vic site stand out. Dude. |
