With all the recent interest in betting on jockeys, perhaps this is worth a try?
Check the card and note the jockey who is riding the most horses which were winners last start. This is the jockey that you will be following today. In the event of more than one jockey tying for selection, you will select the jockey who is currently the higher in the Jockey's Premiership in their home State. Bet as follows: 1st ride – 1 unit 2nd ride – 2 units 3rd ride – 3 units etc… Bet for a win. STOP AT A WINNER IMPORTANT NOTE: Keep an eye on any “pick up” rides. Can it be worse than anything else suggested? Privateer |

You obviously were typing this as I was responding to the other post saying I would be more inclined to back for a win! How bizarre.
So who would we have been following yesterday and would we have won? |

I thought you didn't like staking to chase loses?
Now I am confused. But yes that would work too if you have the bank for it. |

Hello everyone.
Just adding a twist to this jockey system enquiry..... setting up when to bet on an inform jockey or not Take it or leave it here's the guidelines... 1) take the top four jockeys from the premiership table 2) find the pre post odd favourite for each race 3) match the jockeys to the prepost 4) back them for a place providing they pay more than $1.50 Today (18th May) I found these that qualify for the above rules (before finalising with the bet/minimum place dividend) BR2 Canadian Time BR6 Galroof BR7 Lord Essex SR1 Air of Grace SR2 Thunder On SR5 Provokes SR6 We're Dancing SR8 Salim's Tip Good luck to everyone with today... |

3 places for 6 bets with a negative return. ($5.30 back on Unitab). Maybe in the long term. Betting to win would have worked this time. The idea behind $1.50 minimum is to collect 3 in 4 to be ahead.

Just to continue with this plan to see if it holds just a little bit
25th May selections Randwick R1 1 Soprana R2 5 Hillman R4 3 Heptonstall R6 1 Gone Lots of jockeys have moved interstate so it's difficult to make judgements based on those rules set last weekend. Good luck everyone. |

In the end there were three place bets at $1.50+ and two came in paying a total of $3.40 on Unitab. Not quite full recovery if including last weekend's effort, getting there. One win as well. I have some other ideas from this... present it next week.

The "tune up" I will make to be more up to date with Jockey performance is to use the shortest average losing streak rate, instead of the premiership table which locks jockeys into their respective states. So this is the last of the picks I'll enter into this discussion as you can do it for yourself, but they did well last weekend, and are very similar to the initial sets.

Nice results this time and caught up that place deficit from last two weekends.
Based on Unitabe MR6 3 Champagne Miss 2nd $2.50 SR1 2 Sampagaita SR2 1 Robert Royal 1st $4.60 $1.70 SR4 1 Zabarra SR6 1 We're Dancing 1st $3.40 $1.70 SR7 3 Kennett 3rd $3.20 AR4 2 Betta fortune AR5 5 Crowned Love AR7 3 Ikaros 1st $3.50 $1.80 PR1 1 Crown Witness 1st $1.90 $1.30 PR2 1 Dexian 1st $2.70 $2.10 PR5 1 King Luka 3rd $2.60 PR6 1 Old Fashion PR7 6 Sunspark PR8 15 Stockies's Yarn 1st $2.80 $1.70 overall 10 selections which were paying over $1.50 place minimum with 7 placing for $14.80 return. Wins did well and personally I prefer betting this way unless a place is paying ok. [ This Message was edited by: Fryingpan on 2002-06-02 10:12 ] |
