![]() ![]() So typical of me. Just when I think I've done something right, I stuff up. In Race 6 in Melbourne today, I was planning on having the following any2 bets: 2 as a banker from 4,6,7,12,14 and 7 as a banker from 2,4,6,12,14. $1 on each for a total of $10. But the idiot that I am I must have put the numbers I wanted for the bankers in the dollar amount section. So I've actually ended up with $2 on 4,6,7,12,14 (cost $20) and $7 on 2,4,6,12,14 (cost $70). When it comes up on the screen asking me if I want to confirm bet, I've just clicked on it without even paying any attention to what I was confirming. DUMB!!! Anyway, the $20 bet won, but the $70 bet lost (narrowly). I've ended up making a loss of $53 instead of a profit of $8. ![]() |

I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune Sportznut. Probably won't make you feel much better, but I also stuffed up one time on footy. And I don't think you are dumb.Maybe you were in a hurry. And sometimes our shoelaces come undone coz we didn't tie 'em up tight enough.Still don't mean we are dumb. |

![]() Yes I was in a bit of a hurry. There was about a minute to go before the race. Even so, I still should have made absolutely sure that I was putting on the bets that I wanted to put on.
Betting on the internet is good in many ways but this is one way where it's definitely not. I've been writing out TAB tickets for years, so I wouldn't have made this mistake at the TAB, but if I had, when the lady said "That's $90", I would have been able to ask her to cancel the bets for me. Instead, on the internet, once you've confirmed your bet, that's it. And today, I didn't actually know about my mistake until a while after the race when I noticed that my balance was about $50 lower. Last edited by Sportz : 25th May 2005 at 05:15 PM. |

![]() Feel for you mate, but we all make mistakes, and sods law tells us that when a mistake, the result will compound it, as has happened to you.

![]() Thanks Mark.
Yes, and of course, the bet that won did happen to be the $20 bet. It couldn't have been the $70 bet, could it? Anyway, never mind. It's just disappointing because punting is a hard enough thing as it is without making silly mistakes like this and putting yourself in the red when you shouldn't be. |

![]() I have done it myself Sportz tried to put $10 e/w on a horse but being an idiot and not checking gone and put in $50 or something like that in there or put the wrong numbers on when they have gotten up with the ones I thought I would have had. very disappointing and it is the only thing I worry about when putting bets on at home on the net account made to many mistakes and more often than not it has cost me.

![]() I have to own up, just after the new nswtab opened on the net I was sitting here nothing on TV, JFC wasn't posting so was very bored, I decided to have some fun with the dogs having $10 place bets, I bet all night topped up the glass every 10 mins or so and by the end of the night was well out of it BUT I had been an absolute genius on the night, getting result after result, only small $1.5 to $1.8 but was patting myself on the back, wouldn't have a clue where I was profit wise so went into my account to check starting bank to finishing bank and it was a LOT less, very mystified until I checked my bets and I had been clicking on the win box instead of place.

![]() I cannot remember the horse but last wee at queensland races i backed this horse and then i realised hey that isnt the horse i wanted to back so i marched back to the counter and changed it. I was feeling pretty happy with myself that i had picked up my error. That was until the "mistake" horse saluted at $12.

![]() When my mates taught me to place bets as a teenager we always had the rule...."never change a wrongly placed bet". Place the bet you meant to if you want but we were always surprised when "our" roughie got up when we accidentally bet on it. Only superstition I know, and no good to you Sportz.
Best of Luck for the weekend. Tubbs
