Does anyone know if there is anywhere on the web that has race replays of the major races from the past 10 years? like say the 97 melb cup or 2000 cox plate? I am trying to compile a recent history of the major races and this would certainly help.

Real Deal, I have been looking for old racing charts here in the states, for some of our old horses back in 90-92 but can't seem to find any old archives. The only ones available are from the computer age and later it seems. I will keep an eye out for any old videos of big races (Aussie and otherwise) for ya. I actually was wtching a tape of the 1990 Breeder's Cup at Belmont Park the other day. That was one of American racing's most tragic days with Go For Wand breaking down during one of the most memorable stretch drives ever (with Bayakoa(Arg)). In what was an incredible display of class and compassion, Ron McAnally(Bayakoa's trainer), was interviewed about five minutes after the race and could hardly speak, his eyes were filled with tears, and he said he was so sad for Go For Wand and her connections(Mrs Jane Lunger- a gentle old lady and Matriarch of legendary Christiana Stables and a Delaware (second smallest state in US but alot of heart) resident), that he was not interested in the win, but would miss the competition and rivalry from the grand 3yo filly. This after it was pretty apparent Go For Wand would have won the BC DIstaff as she ran head to head and edged away from Bayakoa deep stretch while running on a broken leg for about 12 strides!!!!! That was an incredible filly! She now lays in peace in the Saratoga infield with her nose pointed at the finish line.

Sorry to be a downer but the little filly deserves to be remembered. I will keep my eyes peeled for those videos.

BTW- With Alinghi's recent romp, I wonder why more Aussie's don't come for the Breeder's Cup and it's huge purses? Do you think the Ship is too far, Asia's purses being so large and closer, or is it because of the flip flop of seasons between hemispheres wreaking havoc on training and such? I actually think that could lead to bringing a fresher horse up here. Thanks

I think it has to do with drugs.

Your probably right about the drugs, but they are allowed here so why wouldn't they race anyway? I understand Aussie racning is med free(Excellent thing) but why worry about the others on drugs?

Theres plenty of prizemoney on offer here in Aus in October / November. I would have loved to have seen Sunline race in the Breeders Cup meeting at her peak, but then again I'm glad I saw her win the Cox Plate by 7 lengths that year too.
