Interesting to note that while many of the previous BC Sprint winners have been able to come from off the pace, that is not the case with the Sprints run at Belmont. In New York, the BC Sprint winner has been on or near the lead from the start. While this is good for Lost in the Fog, history also tells us that favorites do not fare well in the Sprint.

Winners of the Sprint must also be 6-furlong specialists and a majority of the Sprint winners were based in Southern California.
