Doomben Races Saturday
Race 1.
Pretty hard to go past Our Private Jet..he did get the dream run last time but i still liked the way he finished it off... looks a genuine improver..Aerosol will again give a good site and is hard fit,,,he wont get it easy though as Kanes Crossing will want the lead aswell...Our Private Jet should get the good run again here and finish over the top of them.. i doubt a price but if he gets to 3.50 jump on....Natural Glamour gets a mile back but does wind up nicely,,i dont think the track suits that much but there should be a bit of speed up front that will help her,,should be double figures and if your game ,,maybe worth an e/w.. Our Private Jet,,,,Aerosol/ Natural Glamour Race 2. Princess Norma really hit the line well last start,,,had to make a very long run and kept on fighting....i think the small field helps her cause and she'll be to strong,,,look for an improved run by Way Of The World ... Princess Norma,,,,Way Of The World/My Centurion Race 3. Skyleda and Sunday Adieu on top for me...the Saddle slipping and having Stewart aboard was to much for Skyleda to overcome last start but he still finished close up...i also loved the way Sunday Adieu ran on last start aswell..both will be towards the back with Cambric and will be charging late...I like JB on Skyleda and the horse is running well..has the all important Bikie Tin Blues form line and should be to strong for them ..... Skyleda,,,,,Sunday Adieu / Cambric Race 4. All the rage is Rock On Bye and she does look hard to beat...suited this distance and from the good barrier should be there when the whips are cracking..trialled nicely and Colless a plus....Maxy Legs drawn closer would be a special,,she does jump well and if somehow gets a posi she'll be hard to beat,,,just has to run up to her last start to win this...Persuades has been dissapointing of late but with the freshn i think will push forward...i'm hoping Maxy Legs follows her over and trails her..Milady Matty won a recent trial nicely and fresh might surprise.... I should get a price for Maxy legs..maybe even 10's from that awkward barrier as history does say its hard to win from out there,,,but the speed map gives her a chance so if the price is right i'll be on... Maxy Legs,,,Rock On Bye/Persuades/Milady Matty Race 5. Can Step Right In run out a strong 1600m ?? if he can with the weight drop he could beat Mitanni...i'm not willing to take that risk ,,,,one of my fav horses Tycoon Rose is racing but will need it to rain...and i dont think shes up to these but i always back her so i'll have a little token bet e.w.... looks a no bet race for me as Mitanni will be short...but atleast an anchor for the trebles.. Race 6. Open race this one...A horse thats been good to me here is Tornadic Sky,,,would like it to rain aswell but hes a tough front running horse and will give a heap of cheek in this...only prob is theres a few in this race that will also like the lead ,,watch for Noble Gaze trying to cross them.....I thought Rejuvenate Lass would have the last crack at them,,if they ride her quiet she does have a good last sprint... Tornadic Sky / Rejuvenate Lass,,,,,Noble Gaze/Bro Race 7. For the first time in ages i might actually get a price for Starlactic,,,hopefully the 1200m and the weight might actually make him backable in this.....I think the freshn will do him good and he loves this track,,.i think the main danger is Anca who was just unbeleivable last start,,came from a mile back.....these the top 2 with Words of Magic and even Enthusiast a chance of jagging a place at odds,,,been trialling nicely.. Starlactic/ Anca,,,,Words Of Magic/ Enthusiast/Katenian/A little Naughty Race 8. Nexgen looks real good ,,hit the line nicely and looks to good for these..Colless just seals the deal.....Kantoshi Millions the only one capable of matching it with him as he raced well last start without much luck...... Best bets,,,, Our Private Jet, Princess Norma, Skyleda, Starlactic,Nexgen, Best e/ws... Maxy Legs, Tornadic Sky Best Longshots... Natural Glamour, Tycoon Rose other states Sydney Bella Arena, Artistique, Alpen Melbourne Catechuchu, Assertive Guest, Canary Island, Super Elegant, Alto Adige Adelaide Raja Dancer, Loutonne, Angelina Balerina Gold Coast Plachutta, Demolir Toowoomba Prvate Frisco Belmont Rescuer, Attractions. Good luck all |

Race 4
Couldnt agree with you more about maxy legs mav, looking at the form you have a horse that has beaten Babinda Half, finished about a length from star of asia/love and money in a good race and then come third to a little naughty and naval seal (which after last weeks win gives it a good form line) and then you have rock on bye which last three runs have been 1st class 3, 2nd class 3, 3rd class 6 3yo and a win in a 3yo maiden. 2nd up record isnt very impressive but i think like you said mav if he gets across into a decent posi will be very tough to keep out. Race 5 Mitanni has gotta win the next doesnt he?? 3 seconds from the last 4 starts and distances sht neck, lng head and long neck. If it doesnt win this youve gottas give up well and truely dont you. Race 6 Bro has been racing ok up north so with a decent barrier could pop in there at very good odds. Race 7 If rassmussen had accepted in this it would have been an unreal race. Oh well looks like they are gunna play the teasing game with us again. Might have a bit e/w on Sir Breakfast, finish the ramornie off very strongly and the run before can be forgiven as he hates any water on the track whatsoever. Starlactic the obvoious fav. but wheneve i back an odds on fav they never come in. Ill be having a bet on those races tomorrow so good luck everyone. |

Hey Mav,
Pretty good days racing at Doomben today with some nice horses going around. The depth may not be there in some of them, but overall its decent. Great day too, lots of sunshine Race 1 - Well, Our Private Jet has been perfectly placed here. Doesn't have to be very good to beat these. On the strength of his last effort at EF, and from the reasonable alley, i think he will win this. He'll be very short though. Aerosol has just been going too hard out in front and leaving himself a sitting shot in the last 100m or so. If JB can hold him up in front a little, then maybe he is a chance. Lindholme is fit and might be able to sneak a place at good odds too. Has been known to run well in town when he wants to. The 3 off his back wil help too - these need all the weight relief they can get . Race 2 - Don't mind Way of the World here. Although she is way way up in class she finished off OK at Ippy the other day and is bred to get ground. The only issue (and it is a pretty big one) is the lack of speed. A field of 8 is always a worry with regards to speed, but i'll just hope. Princess Norma just about got there last time and the extra 200m appears ideal. The only drawback is the short Doomben straight, she needed a while to wind up last time. My Centurion, who beat Princess Norma at EF, won very well at big odds, but has paid for that win by going up in weight. Will go forward, i just think he'll be found wanting in the last 50m when the swoopers are coming. Race 3 - Maybe Hooker Road here. Has been racing pretty well at the Sunny Coast and the extra ground here will probably suit him. The 3 off and the 4 alley are great too. Alan Jones has had a few winners over here lately too, which is encouraging. Sunday Adieu has a horror gate but this isn't the strongest field, so she has to be given a great chance on the back of a nice run last time. She'll improve with every run she is given against these sort of horses. La Bella Mer is a tough horse to catch from my perspective but has talent and one of the better win rates in the field. For that reason, she can't be dismissed. Morris can ride too, and the 3kgs he still gets is a massive plus. Race 4 - Well i tried to find one to beat Rock on Bye but i couldnt. She is the lightly raced one on the up, but she has already achieved figures that some of these havent seen. Given natural improvement, and from the 4 with Colless, i think she will probably win. Stepping was a very nice effort last time, in better class, and so can't be dismissed....especially when you look at the weights. She gets 1 over the minimum after the claim. Persuades was wide behind Spur Me On last time at EF and so the run can be forgiven. Will be much better suited here at Doomben. Although the 11 alley is bad, she'll press forward and hope that some good luck comes her way. Race 5 - Two questions. Can Mitanni finally win one of these 1600m races? Does Step Right In get a solid 1600m? I've gone with Step Right In because the price will be better, although personally i think this will be Mitanni's day. Step Right In was a great preformance last time, at nice odds too. He seems like the type who would appreciate the 1600m, especially around the softer Doomben course. As i said above, i think this is Mitanni's day, but he'll be odds on, and given that he has let punters down in the past, i'm not willing to gamble on him. He'll be on pace though, and be given every possible chance. Whatever you want for 3rd. Maybe Tycoon Rose, although she needs it wet. That was the name that jumped off the form guide first . Race 6 - This is just plain impossible. Maybe Cetenn, who has been racing well at the Coast. Beat Polaris comfortably last time, and that horse has been competitive in various 3yo town races recently. The 3 alley here ensures that he will get a nice run in transit too. Instructed has a really bad alley and if he had drawn in 5 or 6 he'd be my top pick, no doubt. His form lately has been great and if Byrne can manage to get some sort of cover, then he'll be there at the death. Common Knowledge has put in some OK runs lately and if given some luck, and some speed on up front, should given backers a good run. Race 7 - This is a good race, clearly the best on the card. Having said that, its not clear cut. Starlactic seems like he will be weighted on potential the whole way through his career now. He is carrying 0.5kgs more than Sir Breakfast who has won a G2 and a listed race (the Ramornie from memory) and been placing in 2 group 1's, whereas Starlactic has won a few ordinary town races and the Lightning (barely a black type race). That aside, i won't go against Starlactic because he has such a nice turn of foot. I just hope they ride him from behind and not dig him up and get into a speed battle. I'm convinced he can be better when ridden about 4th or 5th and let to settle a bit. But connections would have a better idea of his abilities there, i guess. Spur Me On will lead here and has a sensational 2nd up record, but that was no doubt achieved in easier races than this. That being said, it was a nice win first up and the 1 alley around Doomben will play into this bloke's hands. Anca was a good effort to beat subsequent winner Suubird and the extra 100m here will suit her down to the ground, you'd imagine. The speed should be hot here too, with some real speedsters engaged. Race 8 - Don't like the race, so i've gone rough. Manilla Boy has not won a race yet, out of 15 goes, but he has been placed in tough company all the way through. If you have a look at his last 3 starts, Grecolo, Nova Star and Rasmussen won the races...not exactly puch-overs. Given that he is dropping back to this sort of race, i'll given him a nice chance at good odds - especially with the 3kgs off and the good gate. Charvicky won a race at Doomben at huge odds a few months back in a 3yo town race, so she must have good ability and shouldn't be discounted here. Nexgen will be fav, and will be short, but it was a nice effort behind Step Right In last time at EF - the problem is the wide alley. Looks like i've picked a few favs, which doesn't bode well for those favourite punters, but we'll see what happens . Have a good day all, and good luck with whatever you fancy. Sven |

Looks like a nice betting meeting at Doomben today on a good track.
Race 1: 3.Our Private Jet; 8.Nevada Gambler; 6.Marlene Gaye; 2.Aerosol Weak bunch and Our Private Jet should make it 4 straight - loves the distance and will get a nice run just off the pace. Race 2: 1.My Centurian; 4.Princess Norma My Centurian to lead and be hard to run down. Princess Norma meets it 0.5kgs better for last time. Race 3: 9.Sunday Adieu; 4.Skyleda; 8.Hooker Road Sunday Adieu is the class here having run 6th in the Qld Oaks, also a 3rd to Rampant Lion. Just needs a good ride from the barrier. Race 4: 8.Rock On By; 1.Stepping; 12.Shapelle; 13.Picabelle Rock on By to lead from the inside draw and should win. Race 5: 1.Mitanni; 5.Step Right In Mitanni nicely in with the claim. Step Right in the only danger, but a distance query. Race 6: 18.Halluce's Devotion; 10.Centann; 11. Rejuvenate Lass; 2. Instructed Halluce's Devotion is 2 from 2 this course and distance and gets in here with no weight. Centann won its first try at 1200m by 2 lengths at GC and is consistent. Rejuvenate Lass has been going ok without winning. Instructed faces a task from the barrier. Race 7: 2.Starlactic; 6.Anca; 1. Words of Magic Starlactic was beaten only a length in the Ramornie. Freshened since then. Slight knock with the big weight. Anca has won 5 of 10 and will appreciate the firmer going. 1200m suits and well-weighted. Words of Magic somewhere therabouts but plenty of weight. Race 8: 7.Nexgen; 3.Tropical Express; 6.Lindalay Nexgen is the class in this - beat Masai Pride last start; forget the Doomben Classic as was golloped on in that. Fitter and ideally suited here. Should win. Good Luck Filante |
