Paging Partypooper
Hey Partypooper,
I have seen the light, the light in the West. The last at Belmont. The only class 6 horse in a class 6 race It won last start beating Shirazamatazz It raced last start missing a plate and still won. Gets up to win today @ $17.30 The converted one rolls out his rug and faces west to honour the superior information available and praise the god CRIS for the knowledge of the West.

Been on this horse for a while now. Underrated by the punters in general. Just look at his recent winning form & his starting price in each race!

Unfortunately I didn't tip it, but did back it. (only a small wager)
The big price was due to dropping a lot in distance from last start.

While paging Partypooper, ask him why the races over there (at least yesterday -- and often on other occasions) are called Class 6. There were quite a few unraced horses in the various "Class 6" races yesterday, and I imagine plenty that will never rate to genuine Class 6???

Merriguy,
Yes, when dissecting the form I also noticed that some Class 6 or Open horses had never even run close at that level. Some had never even contested at that level before. Very strange. So I wrote my own program to determine the genuine class of each horse. Painstakingly time comsuming, but reveals a multitude.

Answers, short and sweet:
A. For the horse check to see the last time it won, or the best class at which the horse has won or at the very least has been competitive in. Tracks (Provincial or Country) and prize money are all indicators. B. The race itself, will generally be expressed at the top of the formguide, beside the name of the race. C. The last race, again a half decent form guide will contain this information.

No problems blownhemi, It's a good question. As mad said, you look in the racebook to see the class of the race. Although sometimes a race might not be a genuine Open or Class 6 due to the contestants. As a rule of thumb, I have set up my database to add up the prizemoney won based on the class or above of a race. So, if a race is a class 6 and a horse has won $10,000 in a class 5, $7,800 in a class 6 and $900 in an Open, I allocate $8,700 to the horse as a class 6 horse. I can then get a feel for what horses are genuine Class 6 horses, especially when a horse has won $0 prizemoney at a Class 6. It's not perfect, but it's a work in progress. Hope this makes sense.
