Default Fun's Over

O.K now the Melbourne Cup has been run and won, and once again i have made numerous ridiculous bets during the carnival, which has all but wiped me out. Have $1586 left in my Sportsbet account and it's time to start punting smart.

I continue to maintain a blackbook who's entrants invariably run well and have great strikerates but my inability to control my wagering sees all this hardwork squandered on donkey's before the day winds up.

But not anymore, from now on any blackbook entrant now gets a level stakes 1 x 4 wager on it's next two starts (conditions apply), and that's it, no more bets.

I have found that by over-analysing races i am missing too many winners and looking back through my records have found that by just backing my B/Bookers wherever they run i'd have more success.

I'll post tips, blackbook comments, and results on this thread for a while and see how we go, 2 selections tomorrow.

Thumbs up

VIE FLEMINGTON R1 No.13 (1100m)

VIE - Classy animal, first-up for a year when veered wide and flashed home cheltenham over 1000m, looked home but tired, with fitness will win in this class. 1/11/06. $20 w $80 p

PINDARRI AFFAIR FLEMINGTON R5 No.9 (1400m)

PINDARRI AFFAIR - Settled off speed in truly run race, speed suited but copped interferance and really motored late. She goes well 2nd up can be backed confidently in smaller field, weaker class 1300+. $20 w $80 p.

Bank = $1386

Tough races to start with tomorrow, but i'll stick to my plan, should get good odds anyway. Wish me luck.

The carnival days are a mugs game. Exciting sure, but mostly a bookies benefit. Apart from lashing out a bit on my cup bets, which for the first time in 30yrs. I really cleaned up on, I'd be lucky if I spent $100 total in fun bets on the big Saturday races.

I think everyone gets a bit carried away during carnival time [that's the idea ...the race clubs and bookies, not ours], when the best betting value for serious bets are to be had at the provincials at this time of year [as far as I'm concerned anyway].

Couldn't agree more Crash, in fact my record on city tracks overall is appauling, itwould be much 'smarter' just focusing on the Provs, but i'm hell bent on losing his cash so i must stick to the plan.

Anyway things started well when my first bet Vie fell over, and didn't get much better with Pindarri Affair running a mediocre 6th.

Anywat 3 B/Bookers running on the weekend and i'm confident 2 will run very well, the other looks out of it's depth but i must stick to my guns.

DIVINE MADONNA FLEMINGTON R6 No.15 (1600m)
Class act. Monster effort in Myer Classic when stormed from last after nothing making any ground all day, follow with confidence when speed on, Flemington.

STRADDLE FLEMINGTON R7 No.12 (1400m)
2nd up, raced wide with cover at Geelong, got out top of straight and made plenty of ground on track suiting leaders, just tired late, smart.

CONFUSION RANDWICK R6 No.10 (2000m)
Flashed home from off very slow pace, leader kicked and won, looking for 2000+ with speed on. (2nd run for B/Book, 1st solid 6th in Adelaide).

All bets = $20 w $80 p

Balance = $1086

Cool

There is some value in brissy later today outside of the favorites I reckon, that aren't too hard to spot in the lower weights.
