![]() As professor Julius Sumner-Miller used to say.........
Rhetorical qhestion here..... How can azimuth possibly be in the market in the 1st at Cessnock today.????? One ghastly run,,no mention in stewards reports,5th out of nine by over 10 lengths at only start....Rates zero..... I'm too old to be continually asking myself why..... The proof will be in the pudding in about 20 minutes time...... |

![]() Have you seen the form of most of the others........ 8x7, 8x, 567, 850, x07, 0x0, 099, 7x0.
![]() Compared to them, it doesn't really look that bad! 1 and 6 appear to have the best disclosed form in the race, but apart from them, nothing else looks that great. And it was only $6 at it's first start. Where there's smoke, there's fire perhaps? "They" might know something? |

![]() Hmmm there you go.....finished 2nd in a photo,,,the market is seldom wrong,, though it did drift a bit late in the betting.Which might only mean that the smart money was on early...

![]() Yeah, sounded like a pretty good run. Might pick up a similar country maiden in the near future.

Indeed. A lot of the time it doesn't matter what you know, it's what you don't know that counts. ![]()

![]() Dropped 2.5kg on the 5th placing, but it was a 10 lengths 5th, so I'm not sure why or how it was short and ran so well this time.
Were there any gear changes today, or any trial form to go by? Possibly the fact that a previous barrier trial was an ok run and it's last run was beaten by the pretty handy Diamond Day (an Open winner). Still seemed an anomoly though. Why was it so??? ![]()

![]() I checked for stewards reports,, anything like "slow to begin" or "tightened in running" "checked at" etc etc.. I wouldn't have raised an eyebrow, but there was nothing..
Someone knew that Azimuth was going to run some kind of a race, and that someone told a couple of other someones. I mentioned smart money lolol...The smartest money at Cessnock is glued into your wallet zipped up tight and the zipper superglued.I think the money that had the horse quite short, particularly in the early betting, was "mates money"But hey, they almost pulled it off. . |

![]() S23&Chrome,
Why is it so? IMO local knowledge comes into play at country/provincial meetings, especially in Maiden races, more so if it,s trained at the track by a local trainer(of course). If a horse has no form line yet is well in the market, take heed! This horse had obviously shown the trainer something(in private)that the public had no knowledge of. Was it ridden by an apprentice at when it ran 5th and a senior rider this time? Your probably right about"mate's money"as the trainer most likely would let his mates know it was ready to do something, probably over a beer at the local watering hole. Those mates then tell their mates and bingo, the money goes on and it opens up short. I have a mate who swears by such bets in maiden races in the country only. He also reckons that favs in country maidens have a good win/place s/r. Maybe Wes could run some stats,it would be interesting to see the actual w/p s/r for such races. |
