for years i have been hearing the race caller say "the backmarkers arent in it" as the come round the turn into the straight.
why is this. is this a fair track? all horses cant run on the pace due to safety and barrier draws. i wonder why it isnt a fair track.

Except for WA most races in the east now are not fairly run. Jog and sprint and blanket finishes. Back-markers need truly run races run up to speed. It's just not happening. Any perusal of the Melb. spring carnival will show overall dismal times in the top races. Syd. is the worst offender in races that aren't truly run [approx. 2 sec. or 12 lengths within record time]. It's no wonder heaps of long-shots are getting up. A bookies banquet. Unless you know a race has 2 or 3 leaders in it to put on the pace, throw darts for your selections.
