Yes, interesting race... I think the main thing to remember for this race is, most of these runners are trying to win in the hope they may attract a penalty, and get into the Melbourne Cup. But since no horse has won the Geelong Cup, and gone on to win the Mel Cup, I doubt a penalty will be given. Still, no harm in trying, so Maguire and Cyclades should make the field (MelCup), and I would think would be running for fitness. The desperates to win the race are Media Puzzle (51), Cavallo Bruno (49.5), Firetaine (49.5), Forlorna (49), National Treasure (49), and Le Destina (49). I thought one of the best chances probably wont start in the race, Le Destina, so I recon:
National Treasure Media Puzzle Forlorna |

With L'avenir in the race, sure to be plenty of pace. Like no 3 Media Puzzle (sounds Irish  ) , the top weight Cyclades & no 14 National Treasure.

Like N1 Cyclades - ready to run a big race, N14 National Treasure - well weighted, connections have a high opinion of this horse, forget last run in a race run in a farcical pace early. Value N10 Donarch - well weighted, will be running on, does best in better going.

I like :
Bondi Iceberg Maguire Requiem If L'Avenir gets in, it will go mighty close, should lead by 50 lengths or so turning for home......great place value!!!

Media Puzzle picked by Tab Hunter, Paddy & storm – well done!
Backed Cyclades myself  And a big pat on the back to BettyBoop, whose value selection Donarch ran 3rd paying $17.70 for the place on the NSW TAB! |
