Ian Craig Retires
This morning on Racing Radio 2KY listeners were treated to an hour of reminiscing with Ian Craig who outlined some highlights from his stellar career.
Ian calls his last meeting at Gosford on 24.6.09 and leaves us at the very zenith of an illustrious career and all racefans/racegoers wish him well in his retirement. He outlined some of the characters he had met and some of the great horses and races he had witnessed. It is an end of an era for some of us who grew up listening to the dulcet tones of this master broadcaster. He was in the top echelon in an era when we were graced with many top racecallers. Ian...job well done and enjoy good health into the future. Cheers. |

Wasn't it great to see Ian acknowlegded with functions upon his "official" retirement.
Not since "The Accurate One," the irreplaceable Bill Collins has a racecaller endeared himself so much to the racing public. Although, Greg Miles is quickly establishing himself a reputation as a worthy replacement! All punters and participants in racing wish him and his spouse all the best of health into the future! Enjoy your well deserved retirement Ian! Cheers. |

Here! Here! A great career and makes me realise I'm getting on as I have been around for all of it. I remember Ian when he was doing the trots early in his career. I think he was the trots man on Rex Mossop's sports show as well. From memory Frank Kennedy did the dogs on the same show. How lucky are we to have such great callers and such a great style of calling the races. You really appreciate this when you hear what's on offer in other countries. Well done, Ian! Have a long, happy and healthy retirement.
