Angry Gotta whine to someone, you're it.......

Taree yesterday,my favourite racecourse. The food is good the people are friendly, god's in heaven, all that stuff,,,except..................

Eight races,,five horses get up at odds of over 20/1

There are horses queueing up in the knackers yard with better formlines than those mokes.

I asked the course commentator (a rhetorical question),,whats happening??A long thoughtful look (there were plenty of those around),,dunno bill.

When I see the professionals walking off the course after the sixth race I know that something is seriously amiss....

I know it happens,,, but five out of eight,,,

As the Japanese say, "never happen"but it did.........

That sounds pretty funny.

Another funny thing happened on the same day.

There were 23 losing favs in a row, fall over & a number at very short prices.

I guess its one of those strange days we have to be prepared for as punters.

Seems the implication is that some sort of race tampering has happened at this meeting.

Horses are in the race, usually to win, regardless of what price The Market decides they should start at.
If a number of winners start way over the Odds, then you must look for some sort of link between them.
If there ain't one, then its just one of them things.

Losing money as a Punter ain't fun, and its easy to blame someone else when we get it wrong, especially a number of times in a row.

Bhagwan I agree with you totally, favourites get knocked over on a regular basis, most often by second, third and fourth favourites.Five rank outsiders out of eight races is unusual.

I go to the races at least three days a week and have done for many years,I'm not a big punter and losing is not an issue for me.I simply go to enjoy the racing and some convivial company.

I have seen the rise and fall of etamorhine, etc etc and the technology developed that identified anabolic steroids, which eventually became the downfall of certain premiership and other high profile trainers.

Had industry leaders maintained the "ostrich" approach to those issues and failed to address them appropriately, racing would have lost all credence. As it is the "smarties" will continue to develop performance enhancing drugs for all athletes, human as well as equine.

I'm not saying that the results at Taree the other day were drug related. What I am saying is that chains of inexplicable events should be given serious and intelligent consideration.

Simple as that old son
