Default Will Gold Salute win the $1 million Railway Stakes?

Damien Oliver hunting Railway Stakes success on Gold Salute

VICTORIAN raider Gold Salute has been heavily backed to win today's $1 million Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot.
As much as $6 was bet early in the week, but it was getting harder to find better than $3 about the Mark Riley-trained miler yesterday.

Punters are pinning their faith on Damien Oliver to correct Gold Salute's recent habit of missing the start.

With no recognised leaders in the race, it is critical Gold Salute begins well today and takes up a position in the forward half of the field.

And he is drawn ideally to do that from barrier seven.

Oliver, trying to win the Railway for the first time, has only ridden Gold Salute twice -- for wins.
