Default The Uncertainty of Ratings

Track bias and pattern of racing did not suit.

Windy day irritated the respiratory system

Hit with a clod during running.

Bad ride by jockey.

Bled during the race.

Hard run in higher class company last start flattened him.

Jockey ‘wasted’ too much and had nothing left in last 100m

Over trained and left jaded.

Incompetent barrier staff.

Jumped at the crossing during the race.

Peeled out on the turn and ran smack into a headwind.

Jarred up in its previous run.

Lost a plate during the race.

Could not train during the week because of availability of the track.

Died during the race.

Resented being pushed along early.

Huge run in top race last start, but today she was flat and has had enough racing.

Rider dropped whip.

Sees daylight too early and he’ll get trucking

Kicked in the mounting yard, passed fit to run

Bloodcount not quite right (but they run it)

I haven't hand picked the better reasons, it's an arbitrary selection .....

Ratings eh ???????????

I have a 138 additional reasons, of equal quality??, given by a trainer / jockey / media / owner as to why the horse didn't win.

I stopped listing these many years ago .....

"It's a filthy game" ..... These words resonate in my Port Melbourne Piers as a result of an accidental meeting with an international jockey many moons ago as we were discussing what dads discuss, kids, jobs pets etc.

I'm drawn to a couple of posters here who mostly shy away from 'systems' but seem to concentrate on the fallible public who "make the market" to make a quid .....

There are a couple of good systems to be had, but far more to be learned from some of the writings here ..... It's my perception that you need to have done the hard yards (hobby or otherwise) to get an inkling on how to eliminate the B/S and NOISE from the punt.

I'll repeat ..... "how to eliminate the B/S and NOISE from the punt".

I feel one can easily end up with analysis paralysis .
With all the noise & chatter.

The hard bit is to work with something that is broken down to a few points.

That way there is a greater chance of repeating itself.

I find that level stakes approaches tend to work strongest if bets can be kept to 1-6 bets a day.
