If bookie A pays best of NSW or VIC totes and bookie B pays mid tote of the three main totes which would be the better way to go?

If you take mid-tote you will always only get 2nd best. With Vic-NSW you will very often get the best price so this is the way to go. Mid-tote is offered by bookies as a means to prevent price manipulation in small pools.

I would have assumed that until yesterday. The horses which the Don Scott ratings had at 3.0 or less ran 18 placings and the return on the best of 2 was $39 while the return on BF, where I backed them, was $30.
The first placegetter today paid 2.10 with the bookie and 1.46 with BF. Certainly opened my eyes.

Yep, pointy end is usually not much good but for example I just backed Rolston at Gosford & easily secured $1.20 over the Tatts place divy.

So short end - best tote or whoever wont cut you off.
