races are special conditions.
1 metropolitan win in last year
0 metropolitan wins in last year
group 2 is second highest grade race
group 1 is highest e.g. doncaster etc.
classes run from maiden class 1 etc equally number of wins in career.
class 5 would equal 5 wins in lifetime.
if a horse contests and wins a race greater than $39000 at its first start it is not eligible for restricted city class races.
e.g. if a maiden wins the gosford cup it wouldnt be able to contest a 0 metrop wins in last year etc.
system is much more logical than used to be when they had progressives and provincials and graduations etc.

I didn't hear it on Mother's day but I often wonder where "stone motherless" came from.
