sad to see the brilliant Rubitano retired.
Also there wasnt much of a fuss made when one of my current favourites: Innovation Girl was retired. Let this be a tribute to both of the great gallopers. commisserations to B. Mayfield-Smith and connections although their stakes earnings will make them feel better(or worse?). [ This Message was edited by: umrum on 2003-07-22 13:49 ] |

Hi Umrum,
I agree, it was sad to see these two retired, especially Rubitano. His win in the Salinger was one of the best sprinting performances in a long long time. The recent retirement of the likes of Bel Esprit, Choisir, Innovation Girl, Rubitano, Falvelon has really left our quality sprinting ranks in tatters. The only genuine top line sprinters we have now are Yell and Spinning Hill. However, there is a new star on the horizon that will sweep everything before him....SPARK OF LIFE! Make no mistake, this colt is a genuine G1 horse. His figures for a late 2YO are absolutely brilliant, the best of any 2YO from the last 5 years. His 1100m win at Randwick a month or so ago was good enough to win a G1 galaxy. He's a very exciting horse indeed. |
