Just wandering, what is anyones opinion on being over-rated in regards to the races?

another q for you,,is it a passion, a hobby or just a way to chase lady luck, or maybe to get out of the house for a while?

I was just thinking and having a big ponder about it because I have heard a few people spill their guts lately!!!!

Mystic,
For me it is income from something I love after so many years off the scene.
Dont know why I stopped all those years ago.
This is the most high and low gut wrenching business anyone can do,but if you are basing your betting on something that is reasonably sound, and keep your head in the lows you should be OK.
As Ive mentioned before I am a go to the track man cant do form for s***,but that doesnt mean I have got a narrow mind.
I really love this forum and I am getting some great ideas from it hopefully to combine with my own ideas.
I went to Warwick Farm today and was pleased with my days "work".
Never took a newspaper or bought a form guide just followed my nose, but thats me everyone to their own
I wish I could contribute more to this forum but as stated before I cant post my nose.
An interesting point Ive found after 13 years is the number off same faces out there and talking to these guys again. They have never stopped and live off the punt.
Good luck to you in all your punting endeavours.
Sorry only answered your second question.
Whats overated,For me carnival times and black type races. I do much better normal sats and midweek.
Cheers

Thanks Kenchar,

Well I gotta say I am the type tp follow my nose to, although I dont get much time to get out to the tracks themself - but I reckon that would be of great advantage.

LEADERS(1-3 ON THE FIRST TURN IN THE MAJORITY OF THEIR RACES.)

ON PACE RUNNERS(1-4 AT THE HOME TURN IN THE MAJORITY OF THEIR RACES)

WONDER IF THE NAME MYSTIC HAS SOME SPECIAL CONNOTATION IN MY UNCONCIOUS.QUITE WEIRD.BUT IT WAS A LOVELY DREAM.BACKED THE CARD.

Mystic,
Classic example of a nose bet yesterday.
M R5 #5 jestaway $21 books $16 one of em.
Tote $50+W $12P. In the top 5 in a handicap
so to me is a great place bet.11/1 for a 20/1 shot with 3 chances of saluting. Rotten thing won and paid $52W & $10P.
My point is if I had been on the computer at home I NEVER would have backed that horse because of 50/1.
Cheers

boom two and three year olds. they are over rated.
i.e

lago delight, abdullah, thorn park, san simeon, keep the faith, niello, bel espirit etc etc.

i love horse racing. i would say it is a passion.

watching northerly's wins last night. brought a tear to the eye. definitely a passion.

Thanks guys,
You all made interseting contributions & Kenchar I totally agree with you, get out there and do it.
You probably think my over-rated comment is gonna suk, but to me this is what is over-rated.....the whole carnival glitz & glam, the dressing up, all of it - but I spose all of you guys out there love it.....
And umrum, well that has to be passion, the only time I got a tear to my eye is when I put $10 on Knickerbocker kid and he came in 70/1

Mystic the Carnival is definitely not overrated by some. It is a time for the leading Stables and leading jockeys to make big money. It is a time for the TABs and bookmakers to make big money. It is also a time for your average punter to lose big money. All the glitz is part of the bait to get the punters out there to bet up big and part with their money. You know the saying, "The rich get richer, the poor get poorer." That's what the glitz and glamour of the Carnival is all about.
