Recently found this site and was wondering if anybody could help me with some suggestions as to where I might find thoroughbred databases for purchase or download. I am also looking for "interigation" software to search the database. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi cyriljnr,

about 6 months ago I looked at a number of the options and settled on Price Predictor Pro as my database software. Price Predictor can import form from a number of sources, and has a system tester module which allows you to interrogate the database on multiple fields. It's not as flexible as your own database with SQL commands, but it's an excellent product all round and I highly recommend it.

You can get Price Predictor Pro from capital information systems at
http://www.capitalinfo.com.au/

For the actual form, I settled on cyberhorse form. Cost is about $20 per month for all TAB meetings every day.

Cheers,
Chris.

PS. I should note that you don't get a back database when you purchase Price Predictor. You would need to source this from cyberhorse or just start building your own database as you go.

If you are confident with setting up your own database, but are stuck with how to convert the form files to a dbf format, then just obtain the demo version of Price Predictor and it will convert the form files automatically.

You then have the html form files converted for import to your own database.

Of course, the easiest is just to purchase PPP and be done with it, but I have my own rankings etc that I want, and be able to create ideas and formulae and test them, PPP cannot do this at this stage.
