Hooksey, a working class hero celebrating a great win over Sth. Aust. with his mates. What a terrible loss and tragedy.

'Join in the chorus and sing it one and all, join in the chorus, Victoria's on the ball...'

I used to listen to Hooksey every night on 3AW. He was an opinionated ************, and while i did'nt always agree with him, you had to admire his candor and his stance on certain issues. He called a spade a spade and never backed down when challenged. He has obviously passed on these traits to the Victorian Bushrangers. He moulded a side that were there abouts, into a side that hopefully (to us Vics anyway) bring home the Pura Cup. There could be no more of a fitting end. Rest in peace Hookesy.

I first became interested in Cricket in 1977 and the Centenary test was one of the first matches I saw on TV. David Hookes was one of my early heroes. What a terrible loss!!!

I, like many others, was totally shocked and saddened to hear of David Hookes death.
I hope the ******** responsible get what they deserve.
