In regards to elton john that's probably why he didn't win yesterday, he was hanging out for a fag.

puntz,

I've tried everything and given up ( not the fags ).

Hope you have more luck, but I've just got to accept the fact I can't give em away

Been smoking since I was 14 now 58.

Wish you all the luck in your efforts

Cheers

Hi All,

I smoked for 24 years, and gave up 18 months ago. The key to it for me wasn't gum or patches, but a book -- "Easy way to give up smoking" by Allen Carr. I read the short version (about 140 pages) twice, and that was it.

There's a few copies on eBay at the moment.

you could write a 100 books about giving up smoking.
i smoked for 10 years gave it up in 1969 february 28 (still remember the day)
lots of good reasons to give up. you can afford the odd bet if you give up.
a pak a day is = (compounded) to a new house every 15 years.
fair incentive there.
third day was the worst (several 3rd days before i made it) chewed gum and ate lollies for about 2 months then broke completely.
its will power. e.g. I MUST NOT SmOKE.
surely we have the power within us to say no to somethings.
I recall John Belushi in Continental Divide when a bear ate all his cigarettes except 8 of them. he then rationed them out so they would last as long as possible. the lady in the movie suggested that he give up.
he said. "There hasnt been a day in my life when someone hasnt told me to give up smoking"
a wonderful line.
over to you puntz. its worth the supreme effort.
best wishes.

Gave up cigarettes just over 2 years ago after smoking for 35 years. (now 53 years old ) Tough deal, I just quit with sheer will power, and it was a breeze after I made it past the first 2 weeks. One must sincerely have the desire to quit, or all approaches fail. I have a 23% lung capacity loss from smoke-induced emphysema,(and always will) I still cough well once each morning. A sober reminder of my younger and reckless days, I do suppose. G'luck.

Shocker to give up, but the old Snuff helps a lot and the pipe or a cigar [ sth. american, cubans are too strong ] is a good idea if all else fails.

Just think of the money smokers save the taxpayers in pension payments [if they make it that far ]. It's all these healthy ************s who live forever who are costing us a brick !!

Cheers.
