I'd agree with Shaun regarding amount of selections.

The amount of your selections last Sat. Longy was about my number of bets for the whole of May. I had only 4 bets Sat. [2 wins].

However, considering this is pretend betting [it must be, as several of the past 'bets' were actually scratchings] looking for long shots,
it is an interesting exercise and warms up the winter months.

Hi Shaun,
Thanks for your advice, and it is good advice. My problem is deciding which is a
crappy race. The results of my research have thrown up some good winners in these crappy races. As I said earlier I am happy to return $500 a week (plus $500 if possible). If it takes 1000 or 100 bets I don't care, as long as the end result is profitable. When researching and looking for the 'good odds' to-gether with the odd "long Shot" it is not easy to throw anything away. I must admit that a bit of streamlining is probably warranted and I will be endeavouring to do this.
Thanks again and good punting

Hi Crash,
Not sure where you are coming from. I don't appologise for my large amount of bets it suits me to proceed in this manner. I am not sure what you mean by pretend betting, the past results are immaterial they have come and gone, I don't believe I have to justify them. I am giving selections daily well before race one of each day. These over the next month will either confirm my past results by providing a profitable month or they will fall in a hole, if so we try again. ( I take shaun's point and should look at streamlining somewhat). Time is of the essence and I don't have a great deal to play with for this purpose, but I will try. "Past bets actually scratchings"
again not sure what you mean, if the selection becomes a scratching then ofcourse there is no bet and no result. There is no padding applied all selections are genuine at start of each day and become a bet if meet price criterea and are not scratched. I don't intend to get into any argument over this, I came on the forum to share with you all a process I have developt
whether you avail yourself of it is entirely up to you, all processes of determining which entry is a possible winner are fraught with pit falls and have to be revampt continously. If my input is upsetting to you please feel free to voice your opinion, but at least be constructive.
Good luck nad good punting

Hi Longy,

OK you have brought me up to speed of where your at.

Sometimes in this forum a pretend Bank is put up, say $10,000 and it is used for an exercise to test a a win/trifecta etc. system and generally to see if it runs out or builds up.

I thought thats what you were doing as generally speaking, it is very rare for punters here to mention their betting amounts or finances. They usually use 'units'[could be any size] and not $$$ amounts. Thats what confused me.

Misunderstood your endeavor [sorry about that] and for the amounts your punting I do hope you do OK.

The action is too hot and too often for this poor boy to follow though.

Cheers.

Maybe you should look at field sizes if you are getting ggod results in lower class races....thats where good record keeping is needed that way you can look at the resuls and see exactly where the weakest part is....it may be large fields it maybe fillies and mares races you never know find out where they are....cut these out and you will be better off

To Crash and Shaun,
Thankyou for your comments.
My recent retirement has allowed me the luxury of a rather large punting bank, which hopefully will continue to grow.
I take your constructive critiscism seriously and will endeavour to do as you suggest, Shaun. I guess the excitement of what has transpired and the hope for the future has probably led me a little astray into an area of vunrability. Suffice to say I will now take some time and further review past action and determine which area can be maintained and which requires disposing of. Will continue current posts of selections whilst in review and will attempt to reduce the quantity and maintain the quality. For you Crash I can see it is quite mind boggiling to see 30-60 bets in one day. I must admit that at first I thought the same, but when I saw the end result, I thought ok it is plenty of action but the pot is growing, however I take the point that more does not always mean MORE $$$. Will update when info available, meanwhile goodm luck and good punting
