Bel Esprit can't win the Golden Slipper. I heard today that favourites never win. No favourite has won for over 10 years.

hello,
I dont think Bel espirit will win either because the horse is due for a bad run...im going to be backing snowlands as an interest bet as the connections are very happy with the horse and so is my auntie...the barrier will enable me to get good odds for snowlands but usually i dont bet in feature races.

Hi Guys,

Interesting posts. The thing is Bel Esprit has no idea what horse has won the past 10 Slippers, nor is it aware that it's due for a bad run.

Marcus, I'm sure there are just as many people who WILL back Bel Esprit BECAUSE no favourite has won for 10 years simply because they think a favourite is due for a win. Either way you look at it, these are superstitious emotions, imposed by punters. They have zero bearing on the outcome of the race.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to check my Tattslotto numbers, they haven't come up for so long, they must be due.

Cheers.

I agree. Bel Esprit has no chance. The jock knows all favs. lose and this uncertainty will be felt by the horse.
You can't go past Chuckle. It has Gai training her. She won last year with Ha Ha and the name Chuckle is a good omen.

I could'nt agree more Reenster, I am not saying Bel Esprit will win, nor am i saying he will lose, but if he does lose, it will have nothing to do with being the favorite and nothing to do with being due for a loss, the simple fact is, if he is good enough on the day he will win, if he is not, he won't. The same applies to every other horse in the race.

I will be kicking him home tomorrow, just to prove a point to all the knockers.
