Was sitting here looking at the 4th race in melbourne and thought I was being absolutely ridiculos giving Maxerelle a chance in the race at the odds it was paying and unfortunately let that influence my decision.

The rest as they say is history runs 2nd paying $40 for a place and all I can do is swear alot.

I tried to get a small amount on Light Of Honour on Tuesday, but I just missed out.

It ended up running a place at 45 odd dollars. Now that was painfull.

Raw Instinct
Commiserations - I have the same feeling having tipped to the list the first 4:
6. Sharp Aunty
10. Miss Mooney Mooney
1. Tahni Girl
15. Maxerelle
Paid $136,000 on NSW TAB and the Tri paid $7326.
Had been boxing my selections in previous races for 50 cents but not this one. !
Did have a small wager on Maxerelle e/w so some joy at least.

Geez Smidgin bad luck there mate you don't get those type of payouts happen very often and even less when the horses you were considering were actually part of the finish.

i got over that by putting a minimum bet on any tips that were given to me in good faith.
i found betting too big caused me to pass over value bets.
the bigger the bet the more re-assurance we need.
and the more we gravitate to the favourites for that re-assurance.
on tuesday i backed fangio (in sydney) and fine omens.
today i backed kengrande and charmview.
not bad on what could have been tough days.
also backed suite and missed provence because of the backlog on telephone betting.

also my selection (bet) in the cup got beat by 35 lengths.
win some lose some.
to add to the point. I WAS DUE. been doing it tough for a couple of weeks.

Mate I managed to talk myself out of Kengrande, Maxerelle and Fine Omens all in one week so to say this week has been ********house for me would be an extreme understatement but good luck mate you have obviously had a great week.

If only I could have gotten Creative Plan up that would have atleast pinched the Treble on tuesday for me.

Greatest blunder of all time. Sitting down watching Sky. Brother says put $2 on this horse, cant remember its name but it started with R. I said nah its a waste of $2.
Well the ************ horse won and paid $201. All he did was look at me and stare.

But I try to forget the rest of the bets where my gut tells me different to the head. Its awfully depressing.

i find thinking we know is the biggest problem.

for years i have found the larger the bet the more comfort i need to put it on.
so i went to reducing the bets and backing more speculatively and get some good results.
i am not a good punter but i am also busy so cant spend a lot of concentration.,
i missed swinging babe yesterday.
what i did this week was to look for listed horses over 10/1
swinging babe was the only listed horse in the race at warrnambool yesterday.
fangio was the only one on tuesday in its race.
fine omens there was 3 listed horses over 10/1 in the race so backed the 3 of them.
on wettish tracks they had good chances.
the day all the favorites win you probably find me waiting for the next salvation army soup day.
good lucky you guys. but if instinct says to try something. put a little bit on. (just in case)

I am usually the same actually Topsy will not back a favourite unless it is a horse which I have followed for awhile and I really think it is ready to win that day and even then I will not go below $3 most of the time I look for E/W value in a field and I was finding it this week just managed to talk myself out of alot of them but hey that is is the way it goes isn't it it wouldn't be called gambling otherwise then would it.
