Heard this morning that Plastered has returned an irregularity from a swab taken from the horse after its October win in Perth. There is a problem with the feed and the same feed was brought to Melbourne. If the horse returns a positive from the re-testing of the samples from both the Aami Vase and the Derby, the horse may be disqualified from both races. Results will be known later this week.

His first aami vase swab was clear so lets hope he's right for the derby. It will be a real tragedy if he loses the races. The good thing is at this stage it is a swab irregularity not a positive. Northerly once had an irregularity but nothing came of it. How heartbreaking for the owners if they have to give back the trophies.

In which case even if Plastered loses the prize money I suggest its owners be kept happy and allowed to keep the trophies.
they raced for teh glory of teh trophies, the money doesn't really matter. Come to think of it, next year's Melbourne Cup should have no prize money but just the prestige of winning such an important race. I'm sure evrryone will be just as keen to win it. After all, you never hear about them talking about the prizemoney. It's always about the prestige and history of the Melbourne Cup. I'm sure everyone will be just as enthusiastic with zero prizemoney.

Yeah but the owners are all multi's.
One of the owners won more on punting the horse than the prize money.

cheers

I hope plastered doesn't get disqualified otherwise I'm going to miss out on all the returns I would have had through backing against him.

Won't be backing against him next Melbourne Cup though.

Doesn't matter who contaminated the feed - the horse will be stripped of BOTH the Aami Vase and Derby if his second samples come back positive.

They are retesting the AAMI vase swab and specifically testing for this chemical from pig feed. They say they may have missed it so it is still well up in the air.

Plastered's AAMI Vase and Victoria Derby swabs have been cleared. He keeps both races. His Belmont irregularity is yet to be confirmed as negative or positive.

Good to see this whole thing sorted out finally. And given the winning performance of Count Ricardo against older horses on the weekend, just can't wait to see how Plastered goes from here on in.
