Fat Horses
Just noticed that a trial of weighing horses prior to race time was to be carried out at Sandown today and at the next Sandown meeting.
Depending on the success of these trials, moves will be made to implement this initiative at all Metropolitan courses and extend it progressively to all country venues.(according to a report on the racing Victoria web site) Anyone got an opinion as to what value this will be to the punting public. Sounds like a good idea to me. |

Probably the most significant change mooted in the past 50 years and no-one has an opinion on it.???
Surely this will have a significant impact on punters, especially if horses are not allowed to run when too far outside their racing weight. |

fat opinion
maybe but it will lower field numbers further and take more flukes out o f the results.
too much perfection is not a good outcome. it always been known that horses are brought back to race fitness with a few runs. it will mean short racing stints for horses as they will lighten off quickly there goes the third dividend.

Yeah topys99. Would certainly help in accessing a horse’s first-up condition / chance.
