These are not that restrictive and were selected for various reasons.

If you'd like to update a post with further details you can do 1 of 3 things:

1. submit a new post in the existing thread
2. use the contact form to request that the additional information you would like added be added
3. choose not to post the information

Option 1 would probably be the easiest and preferred option. Option 3 is certainly not a choice anyone would like to see happen but nonetheless it is a choice that can be made.
