![]() I know a few (or most) i don;t know really, probably don;t drink whilst they punt for obvious reasons, but i don;t really take it all that seriously and normally have a few ales with family and firends whilst betting on a saturday. If i am not at the track i will normally be at the sandy pub. Just for curiosity i was wondering where everyone else goes for a pint and punt.

![]() I do all my study the day before and barring track condition changes ..i know exactly what i'm betting on and how much...
So i can sometimes go the track or Pub and have a few beers and enjoy the whole day..i always take my mobile so if something jumps out at me at huge overs i can still jump on.. I enjoy the atmoshere especially carnival time..you done get that sitting in front of the computer and tv .. and you have to love the happy punters down at the pub..backing anything and everything in every race... right now they think i'm a guru thanks to Merlot Now .. . getting heaps of free shouts ..but that will last only until my next tip losers.. point is..you still need to have alittle fun ![]() |

![]() Saturdays while watching the races is the only time I drink, although its no more than 3. I'm exactly like Mav, i've done the form well before race time and want to enjoy the day. Don't take it too seriously :P

![]() Agree with most of what's been said. My routine is to select the races I want to rate on Thursday. Do the ratings Thursday night (my wife has finally accepted that Thursday night I'm not to be disturbed). Update for scratchings Saturday, get the early prices from Chubby on 4TAB then finalise my bets. I normally place my bets with IAS or Betfair.
Saturday afternoons are then free to go to the local or to Doomben (I rarely go to Jurassic Park). My bets are on long before the demon drink has a chance to take hold. |

![]() I routinely get blasted at the races on whiskey, rum or whatever spirit moves me that particular day. 15-20 drinks is common. My handicapping is usually done ahead of time, but I do some while drinking or even while drunk.
Fortunately, I am a well-disciplined, experienced bettor even even when wasted. (and with my handicapping, it often doesn't matter anyway) When betting on Australian racing, I am safe at home on one of my computers, and safe to drink my fill, it is nighttime, and there's no fear of the police ruining my time. I enjoy that very much. My problem at the live races is (sorry ladies) taking a woman with me, especially one new to horseracing and used to getting my attention. A greater distraction I have never been around. In fact, at least American women, and any kind of gambling do not mix well. There are some exceptions, as I have known a few women who were avid gamblers/handicappers. I am having a few rum and Coke study aides for tonight's (todays) racing as I type these very words. Regards, Glenn

![]() Much the same as most of you people.work out my bets and write them out on Tab slips, head of to the Maroochy rsl and have a few make that quite a lot of drinks with me mates.Have already put bets on so the grog doesnt really affect them unless im losing. If behind tend to have catch up bets and thats when damage gets done.
Always have my trot bets on computer before i go out and disconnect from internet so not tempted when i get home, has been known to happen drunk in charge of a telephone account Dangerous. cheers |
