Usually, I don't get excited about horses and only bet for a place but tomorrow I'm going to have a go at TOP ECHELON GC Race 5 No 3.

I think this is one seriously smart horse.

If it doesn't win, be sure to follow this one.

No particular excuse but quite a good run. Follow it up. Don't forget!!

Doomben tomorrow Saturday 25/5.

Privateer, isn't this selection a bit out of your normal criteria?.
and also when you (or anybody else) are taking into account the 5 highest average prizemoney winners do you ever take into consideration the number of starts and the age of the horse.
IE. the highest average might be an older horse with 50/60 starts and the 6th highest might be a 3/4yo with 15/20 starts.
Does anybody not consider a horse that has say 50 starts and is an 8YO?, or do these stats get taken into consideration anyway?.

I was thinking the same thing myself Marylin, that it fell outside the Privateer's system. The true professionals though, always reserve a small percentage of their bank for "heart" bets. It keeps the itch scratched. Am I right Privateer?

Absolutely correct Placegetter. Even people on a diet have a chocolate from time to time.

I'm actually going to back it to WIN as well as taking it in a trifecta!!! Quick, somebody pass me the panadol!

Yes, it falls outside my normal parameters but I will still have my "normal" wagers.

No luck there Privateer, but you motivated me to think more about staking.

As place bettors, if we are supposed to be 100% sure that our selections should run in the first three, does that mean we are 33% sure our selection can win?

Anyway, I staked today accordingly, 1 unit win, 3 to place on a horse which subsequently won! Beginner's luck? Or should we be including a win portion in the betting now, as our ability to select paying selections improves.

I ask you Privateer, as you have spoken about this approach previously.

Are you still harping on about that also-ran?

Bet you a beer it doesn't figure in the trifecta.

In order:

Lovely Jubly, 10 lengths Messiaen, 1/2 length Sir Breakfast, sht nk La Peche.

PS. Have left Chickens out because I prefer my selections to have had a few runs, but I would be keeping that one safe if actually betting on trifectas.
