Just wondering what you had in mind for the next tipping comp I know Sportz mentioned something along the lines like fantasy sports if we are going to go that way I was wondering what you had in mind because I had tossed a few ideas around myself over the last couple of weeks.

I was thinking we could do a draft type thing basically meaning that only one person could own a certain horse and then we could work out a scoring system varying between certain grades of races a bit of work involved but I would certainly help out. We could also incorporate the price which the horse pays into the point system say a horse wins a midweek race paying $30 for the win and $6 for the place then you could award say 5 points for the win and the 30 points for the ammount he paid aswell as the 6 points it would have paid for the place so all up you would get 41 points for that winner.

If you guys have MSN messenger or something you can get me on there if you wanted to chat about it at all and throw around some ideas and see what we can come up with.

I wasn't actually planning on doing that until at least the new season in August or preferably the start of September. You see, I was going to concentrate only on Group 1, 2 & 3 races during the Sydney & Melbourne Spring Carnivals. Makes it a lot easier for me to run and for everyone to play if we're concentrating on only the very best races and horses.

Thats ok mate just realised we aren't going to have much running soon I migtht have a bit more of a think about it and might start it up myself will wait out the brisbane carnival atleast anyway probably was thinking around the end of August then run it for either 3 or 6 months probably 3 months then reload again.

There's one thing I was thinking about that could be a bit of fun.

You know how we've often thought we could do better than the expert tipsters. Well, how about we actually try. Newspaper tipsters have to get all their Saturday tips in by Thursday afternoon. So as a challenge, we could post all of our tips on Thursdays and see how we go. We could develop it into our very own tipsters poll and work out the 'most favoured' in each race etc etc. Then we could compare it to the Newspaper tipsters from the Courier Mail or Telegraph or Australian or something. Newspaper tipsters usually only tip in one state, so we could perhaps concentrate on one state each and give 3 tips in each race at that one track. I'm not sure which state I'd concentrate on.

Anyway, what do you think of that idea? Probably a bit too late to do anything about it this week though. How about we wait until after the Brisbane Carnival's finished and we should have it all worked out by then.

Yea sounds pretty good mate I wouldn't mind running it for the 4 states or even 5 states in there is somehow we can find out what the guys are tipping in WA either way I would be in it.

Yeah consensus poll a good idea - give us till Friday afternoon though....... we aren't the slaves of Murdoch!!

If it started going well, we could put in a small amount each of a Saturday for a consensus quaddie or something like that even, if people were keen. I reckon the consensus tips would go very well (especially if they were at Strathalbyn! )

That would certainly be okay if we simply wanted to do our own tipsters poll, but if we also wanted to compete against the Newspaper tipsters, then we really should post our tips before Friday. After all, that's when they have to do it. And if we wait till Friday, everyone will be able to look at all the newspaper tips anyway, and it won't be the same.

So what do you guys reckon? Just simply do our own consensus poll or also try to compete against the newspaper tipsters.

i definitely Couldn’t do it if we had to tip on Thursdays...i do the form with the Friday paper and haven’t really an idea of the racing before that

So who wants to be involved? Remember, you have to give 3 tips in every race at one or more of the meetings. Just give me some sort of idea by posting here if you want to have a go. And also tell me what state or states you prefer to pick in.
