Punter's Paradise
I have been looking at a Place system based on the Punter's Paradise ratings. I haven't kept records but it doesn't look bad so I'll list today's selections and hope because I'll be betting them
Alice Springs 4/1 Belmont 3/5 7/5 H'bury 2/6 Hobart 1/2 5/1 7/8 Naracoorte 2/2 Ballarat 2/1 4/4 Swan Hill 3/11 4/3 |

Hi, Darky. I hope you didn't bet them.
They were the raw selections without any filters. I should have deleted any Maidens because they don't have a good track record with stats because of their general lack of racing and many of them are unraced or even with only one or two starts. And NTD races should not (IMHO) be included in any Place method. Applying these two filters to today's races there would have been only three qualifiers for two successes for a return of $2.50. I'll give it another go tomorrow as I think the method might have merit. |

G'day MG,
I looked at placegetters from yesterday. Just using the filter: Favourite < $3.00 Betfair Back, there were 24 selections from 59 races for 2 accidents. A 91.6% Place strike rate. So you only needed a min $1.10 div to breakeven. A good day for Place Backers??..............RP |

Hi, RP.
It's coincidental you mention Place betting based on the price of the fave. Yesterday (whenever I was at my computer) I backed multiple selections for the Place on Betfair in almost every race solely based on their Place prices (usually in the favoured end of the market). It was a good result. I didn't compare their prices against the TAB but we can be almost certain they weren't as high as Betfair. So last night in England I bet exactly the same Place method but with S.P. - again it was a good result. I am now considering temporarily stopping Lay betting. |
