He played up quite a bit before the race and I know they were adjusting his saddle for about 5 minutes at the barrieres missed the start an was pushed a little to make up a good position then seemed to really resent being between horses as he so often has he is such an enormous horse he really is far more comfortable outside horses. to be honest those coupled with the fact that he was 2nd up at 2000 metres were enough to cause a problem for him I honestly think that he is a fantastic sprinter/miler who they are trying every which way to make a stayer out of which is making him lose that dynamic sprint he used to have when he was fully wound up 1400-1800 that is where he is suited he might get 2000m when he is fully fit and wound up but I think that is doubtful to.

i think there is a tendancy to expect too much of good horses.

i liken the 2nd up of starcraft at 2000 to lonhro's last run.

he ran over 2000 at flemington then had 26 days off and won over 1500 and then jumped to 2000 after another 14 days.

this was 2 runs over 40 days and the second run at 2000.

i thought it was a big ask and could explain why he didnt win.

Do you possibly agree with me he is a sprinter/miler at all Topsy his best runs in his career have been around the 1400m range in the Mudgeway and the Debonair would love to see him set for some of our better races at that range like the Stradbroke, Doncaster/Epsom pipe dream I know as it will never ever happen.

I think he won the Derby one pure guts not because he could stay the Elvstroem he beat there was a shadow of what he was the spring before and after Delzao proved he was nothing more than a good miler bar one run and Braeloch has not even looked like winning a race since.
