Hey, XPT

Interesting you don't give Marqueeta a chance on the 3rd, it's form is far superior to most of the ones you've selected, esp on heavy ground.

GDay Mr Ed
to my way of thinking that race should have been about 11/2 the field ($6.5)... They were a pretty moderate lot, and the horse u refer to, didnt come up in my ratings formula.. I had it just below the winner at about 10/1.. I see it started 2/1 on NSW TAB, so IMHO was a poor bet anyway... Was a pretty hard race as all seem to be in Victoria at the moment... Lost yet another on protest down in that ************** of a place

Yes, I didn't get time to post my tips today, but I've managed to get 2 out of 3 with my best bets (Zapache and Lovan). Unfortunately, the one I missed out on was the one you're talking about, Rev Em Up. I hate losing a race on protest.

Maybe so XPT, but the one you had rated on top, started favorite, and it's form was very similar to Marqueeta's. You say this was an average lot, the easiest races to pick are the average ones, i think at $3.50 she was a good bet. According to TVN was quite fat in the yard and should be well improved by the run.

Gday Mr Ed

I wasnt having a dip at you at all.... I will have to look at Y the horse you refer to wasnt any higher, I base my ratings on Distance, track, days between races, barriers and a couple of other things maybe that hose didnt measure up ina couple of em I will get back to you on that tho

Ok .. first up... In NSW , the order of fav was reversed.. Marqueeta $3 and my top rater $3.6 BOTH well unders IMHO.. I think this was a dud Maiden race run on a heavy track, and they are asking you take 2/1 about something that is no sure thing?

The reason Marwqueeta didnt figure in my ratings would most probaly be the barrier (it was in 9 when I did the ratings) and so does not attract bonus points, it ran 3rd last start so again does not attract many points.. My top rater was drawn well attracting a bonus, 2nd last start attracting more points, the days between runs was the same.. I think the barrier was the determing factor between the 2 of them... Having said that,, neither of em won... the winner, a first starter from bar 1 with no penalties, I think deserved it's rating..

It is just my opinion, which has no more validity than anyone else's, that these are pretty hard races and I need to be certain b4 jumping in and taking 3 bucks about a maiden runner, and never 1 that I have rated at about 10/1

I jumped in and took $3.9 on a maiden later in the day there that I thought was a chance and lost in on protest... ************ maidens lol

Thumbs up

Don't get me wrong XPT, people have to have differing views for this game to work. I wasn't having a go about either i was just interested to see why it wasn't rated and you've answered that, cheers. Yeh maidens can get frustrating but i think they're a great punting medium, especially the distance ones say over 1600, (to prevent a blousing by a first starter or first upper, like the 2 that beat me today), level weights, and can easily discount at least half the field ussually that will never win a race.
