Smile Australia Stks Thoughts

A very tough race again this week

Obvioulsy if Paratroopers resumes well then it will be hard to beat. Showed so much promise last prep and looks to be a star of the future. Only query is that he hasn't won at the track or distance, from 1 and 2 tries respectively. Barrier is fine as he will probably come across and lead, or sit just outside All Bar One.

I'm also particularly keen on Jet Spur - i thought it was a great run in the lightning when no one was coming home. Boss on board again which can only help. Won twice at distance, but hasn't run at track but i don't this will be an issue - has potential speed, and could get to the front early

Rewaaya is another possible star, and didn't have much room when a good 4th in the Lightning. Showed it was a potential superstar over this track and distance last prep when demolishing them in her first few starts. Should get a nice run from barrier and looks very good

Virage De Fortune is another to keep an eye on - pushed Up and Comer California Dane ot the wire last start in the Carlyon first up. Loves the Valley and the 1200 and is well weighted against these. Barrier is a slight problem, but should be up with the leaders so should go close

It seems a few people have jumped off the Glamour Puss bandwagon, but there is no denying she is a classy sprinter. Seems to have bounced back well from mild illness sufferedbefore the lightning. Group 1 winner over this distance ( one of 8 wins over the 1200) and has also won at the track ,and twice first up

I think it comes down to these 5, but an upset from others like Stratum or Chetwynd South would only be a minor surprise.

Oh and lastly, Zenno Goshu is a proven Australian Group 1 performer, who is yet to fail in this country. Super consistent and unbeaten over track and distance

Nice write up chuck. I think you've covered pretty much everything i was considering. Now if i could just seperate one or two of these runners i'd be much happier.

My only query over Glamour Puss would be her Manikato performance (8th), 1st up over this distance at this track. Particularly now i learn that her scratching in the lightning was due to illness. I'm a glamour puss fan but this one has got me wondering.

As well as the ones you have mentioned I'm a fan of perfectly ready. beaten a neck by spark of life this trk/dst this grade in the spring. Can do something similar here. I have paratroopers on top from perfectly ready, virage de fortune and respect rewaaya.

Guys i think i have seriously put my foot in it.

Talking trash with a few mates last night and one of the boys just kept ramming paratroopers down my throat all night. I personally do not think it can run a drum due to the speed battle that is going to happen tomorrow. So i shot my mouth off and offered him 8's with a 50 minimum bet. He took it in an instant. Personally i think virage and rewayaa are the top 2 in the race but all this paratroopers talk is starting to get me worried, would be a bad day to lose 350 on a side bet!!

He'll be there or there abouts but i think you just made $50. If he had a few runs under his belt and was blowing away fields like he is capable of doing then i'd be worried. In fact the more people talk up his chances the happier i'd be to take him on.
